2008 ROCKS!

About Me

Pretty laid back. Love to spend time with my friends, listen to music, etc. I have the most amazing son in the wide world. Soon I plan to take over the world and put a quick end to all the bullshit out there, but other than that, I'm just hangin'...

My Interests

Books, Music, Movies, Travel, Good Practical Jokes (on others), avoiding hateful people, taking over the world, good writing and poetry. Here is one of my faves:On the day when the weight deadens on your shoulders and you stumble, may the clay dance to balance you. And when your eyes freeze behind the grey window and the ghost of loss gets to you, may a flock of colours, indigo, red, green and azure blue come to awaken in you a meadow of delight. When the canvas frays in the curach of thought and a stain of ocean blackens beneath you, may there come across the waters a path of yellow moonlight to bring you safely home. May the nourishment of the earth be yours, may the clarity of light be yours, may the fluency of the ocean be yours, may the protection of the ancestors be yours. And so may a slow wind work these words of love around you, an invisible cloak to mind your life. A prayer taken from ANAM CARA by John O'Donohue

I'd like to meet:

I'll talk to anyone who is not closed-minded. I like people who challenge me. If I could meet anyone in history, tho... Mark Twain, Abraham Lincoln, Mother Teresa & Jesus.

Music:

In no particular order, although Alexi Murdoch is perfect to start off with: Alexi Murdoch, Counting Crows, North Mississippi Allstars, The Tablerockers (do yourself a favor and get a cd from cdbaby.com) Black Crowes, The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Stevie Ray Vaughan, O.A.R, Jason Mraz, Aerosmith, Anthony Gomes, Susan Tudeschi, Jet, John Mayer, Ellis Island, Train, Merle Haggard, Damien Rice, Jack Johnson... this list is neverending and will continue to grow. I listen to at least a few songs from damn near all genres of music.

Movies:

The Holiday, In Her Shoes, The Family Stone, Harry Potter (all of them!), Lord of the Rings, The Preacher's Wife, Ever After, Elf, Anchorman, Wedding Crashers is probably the all-time funniest movie I've ever seen. I don't get into really serious movies. I like a good laugh or a good cry, but I just watch movies to escape for a couple of hours. I don't care what the critics think of them or whether they are going to win awards.

Television:

Grey's Anatomy, Boston Legal, Rock Star, House

Books:

The Golden Compass, Anything Terry Pratchett, Harry Potter (all of them!), The Spiral Dance, Eragon, The Eldest, The Fifth Sacred Thing... I read biographies, autobiographies and other non-fiction more than anything, but usually if I have a book in my hand, I'm happy. I also love some of the classics: To Kill a Mockingbird, Watership Down, Black Like Me, A Farewell to Arms. I also like how-to/do-it-yourself books.

Heroes:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” -Mark Twain

The Terrorist Tooth

I had a filling done several months ago and it was fine.  Then it started to hurt so the dentist refilled it with sedative material to see if that would work or if I would need a root canal. ...
