Lyfelong a.k.a Mr. Charlotte

Hip Hop has me uninspired right now!

About Me

Coming from the same bloodline as the late great Ray Charles, it's in Lyfelong's soul to create great music. Lyfelong's grandfather and Ray Charles were first cousins and that explains where he gets his musical talents from. Lyfelong eat and breathes Hip-Hop, but has been influenced by all genres of music from, Soul, Funk, R&B, Rock & Roll, Country, and even Gospel. Elements from all of these genres can be heard in Lyfelong's music. Lyfelong has been respected by the streets of Charlotte since late 2000 when he decided to leave NCCU early to focus on his career. From co-founding now defunct Carolina Bread Records in 2001, to creating Swagger TV in 2004, he has always kept Charlotte Hip-Hop in the forefront. He has now decided to go back to what people want from him the most...To hear him back in the studio going for dolo. Lyfelong has influenced a number of Charlotte artists and TV shows. Once the city of Charlotte saw the success that he had with Swagger TV, there were a lot of television shows created that mimicked Swagger TV. So many in Charlotte have borrowed from him while he remained humble, quoting that "imitation is the best form of flattery." Even when artists spit at him on the low he smiled and kept it moving, knowing they just wanted to be in the position he was in. Lyfelong was stamped as the future by "Big R", promotions/marketing coordinator from Power 98 waaaaaayy back in 2000. Mr. Incognito had Lyfelong as a guest on his show back in 2000 when Power 98 was still located in Concord. This is when Lyfelong signed his name on the wall of fame with other national artists that visited the station. Six years later prophecies have been fulfilled and Lyfelong stills stands as one of the forefathers of the Charlotte Hip-Hop movement. Lyfelong laid his foundation rocking local underground Hip-Hop spots over the years, and providing WPEG Power 98 with some of the illest freestyles their listeners have ever heard! His name stands for Live Yours For Eternity Long, as in live your life for eternity long. His moniker "Mr. Charlotte" came from his dedication to his city's uprising. Lyfelong set mixtapes and radio stations up and down the East Coast on fire with his single "Dreams" back in 2003-04. A remake of the Biggie classic, "Dreams of an R&B chick", Lyfelong moved over 10,000 units of the single that had a b-side of the club banger "Groupie". "Dreams became the most requested independent song of Charlotte on local radio stations. Lyfelong is now looking to set the streets back on fire with his witty wordplay, and thought provoking rhymes. A true prophet and street apostle, Lyfelong tantalizes audiences with his vivid storytelling abilities. His music provides hope and guidance for a generation that seems to be lost.
