I am here for Friends

About Me

Welcome to my space. Life finds me living in Japan. It’s certainly a different culture but it’s one that’s tremendously peaceful and inviting. There's so much here to learn and I‘m looking forward to getting to know more about the culture and the people.So...about me... Some random facts...been to bartending school, a foster puppy parent, volunteer at a local hospital, pilot in the Air Force, have taken Japanese and Spanish, was adopted... I'm looking to learn, to make friends and reconnect with lost ones.Life is something else. You've just got to enjoy it all. The good, the bad, all of it. It all goes a long way toward making us who we are. I've lived a very full and interesting life so far. Made more than my fair share of mistakes, more than my share but I'm learning from them. I'm striving to be a better person, a better friend to those who love me, a better brother to my two wonderful sisters and a better son to my parents. At some point in life we are all going to have to look back and ask ourselves "are we proud of who we were?" I hope to be able to answer in the affirmative. It's going to be a tough task to accomplish but I'm not willing to quit. I owe it to myself, to those I interact with, to Brendan James. For those who care or want to know Brendan James was my son/will always be my son, my only child. He died at 6 1/2 weeks of age from a syndrome called CHARGE. Bless his soul.I'm looking to make some new friends, to expand my horizons. Learn new things, experience life more, just get out there and mix it up. Hopefully I can share some of my own experiences with others, be a good friend, and make a difference. Isn't that what life is all about?I realize a lot of my blogs are serious and somewhat deep. They express some of what's inside but it's not all of me. I can also be a goof. I'm a master of mixology, a antagonizer of children and a general random. It's all of what makes me so damn endearing.Currently training for an Ironman. For those unfamiliar, it's a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike, topped off with a marathon for good measure. I’ve already completed a ½, the Aviva Singapore 70.3 in September and it was a blast! So, if anyone out there is up for some running, swimming or biking...let me know! Heck if you're just up for lounging around and shooting the bull (not real bulls, that would be cruelty to animals or something so I can't condone that) then let me know too. Always open to making some new friends!

Loss

Nothing lasts forever.  Not life.  Not love.  Not even a Jawbreaker, though I never can seem to finish one of those things...When you experience loss there's just so many things that go through your m...

In the big scheme of things

Have you ever thought about life, I mean really thought about it?  Sometimes everything just seems to fall into place.  Other times...when it rains it pours.I've experienced a series of disa...

Ironman Japan

I've been dreaming of doing a full Ironman event for some time now. I've picked races, began training, got sidetracked by work trips and I've reevaluated my goals. I've thrown in marathons for kicks, ...

New York City!

When I was a kid I always thought I'd grow up to be some big, bad, financial guru.  I was sure of it.  When I was in high school I read Donald Trump's book, a book about Michael Milken and r...

Sometimes choices are difficult until you really think about them

We're coming to the end of another year and I've come to consider what's transpired over the course of 2007.  There's certainly been plenty of experiences, lots of changes both personally and pro...

Its Christmas!

I was walking around the mall earlier today and the only thing that was on my mind was... I figured a simple blog would state it perfectly as I know many feel the same way... I loved that mo...

Which one do I choose? (updated)

This one isn't motivational.  It's not inspiring.  It's not even going to make you ponder.  This one is simply a call for info, a reaching out there into the cosmos and asking for whate...

Do it for yourself

Life isn't always pretty and it isn't always fair.  Sometimes we seem to get the short end of the stick whether it's the loss of a job or a loved one, a missed promotion or opportunity, a disagre...

But it's so different now!

Live can be tough at times.  Though we often choose to see the abundance of joy and the sunshine, sometimes we have a tendency to focus on the small sliver of darkness.  My life is full of a...

All I want for Christmas

I'm a pretty simple man.  I don't ask for a whole lot.  When I was younger I needed it all.  When my parents asked me for a Christmas list, I'd break out the spiral notebooks I'd jotted...
