Au Fait

Since many people will probably wonder what Au Fait means, here is the correct definition. "Having experience or practical knowledge of a thing. Expert, skillful, and well instructed". Going by the government name of Joseph R. Baez, he often depicts himself by saying, "Au Fait the name defines my strength". Born and raised in Queens, New York although brought up in Flushing, as a child Au fait often moved from apartment to apartment. This forced him to change schools on a regular basis. Eventually leading to where he currently resides in Bayside, Queens. This is where he met close friends and partner in crime Psyclone and DJ Neddy. Soon following the establishment of "Live Rounds" and Ground Zero Productions.As a youth Au fait was always musically inclined due to his fathers love for music. This opened him up to various genres and his grandfathers talent playing the guitar was a huge benefit as well. It is no surprise to some that Au fait took a liking to hip hop with his father being an MC and a B-Boy during its' golden years. "My pops was always involved with hip hop. Honestly when I was young I enjoyed Bob Marley, but as I got older I started understanding what a lot of these dudes were saying and I was like damn. I was amazed by how they were flipping the words and toying with the English vocabulary. I thought it was ill so I started writing my own shit". Night after night he would go to bed listening to Biggie, Dmx, Nas and others to the point he claims he could not sleep without listening to music. "I would be in school and it was like there wasn't a song i didn't memorize. People would be asking me all day to rap this and rap that and after a while I started spitting my own shit knowing they wouldn't know the difference. As far as they were concerned it was just another song and for some reason that was the only way I was comfortable with spitting in public, like if a dude asked me to spit or freestyle i wouldn't do it" Psyclone oddly was the only person he felt comfortable around.A lot of local MC's around Au Fait had the proper tools for recording while he was forced to do it the only way he could. He started recording his first material on a tape recorder and a one dollar microphone that Psyclone and Neddy purchased at the ninety nine cents store. He would later claim that, "the times were rough". But with that in mind there was a hunger there that many didn't understand. Although being known as the comical sense of humor type of person, his dark twisted way of creativity is always noticed through music.
