A study in contrasts

About Me

www.alexswebspace.com
I'm a laid back, easy going guy. I've been known to be quiet... what can I say... sometimes I just run out of things to say... and I'm not one to fill a void with meaningless chatter. But just because I'm quiet, doesn't mean there's nothing going on up there... on the contrary, there's more than probably anybody will ever know. I hate being busy. I like to go out and party, but also like to stay home, hang out, watch movies... and definitely mix it up between the two. I don’t like doing the same thing all of the time.
I like and am into a lot of different things... usually polar opposites: I love computers, and also love being outside. I love the city, but don't mind visiting the country every once in a while. I confess that I'm a perfectionist, but I try to keep a balance and not go too far with it. I'm both artistic and technical, emotional and logical, and a realistic idealist. With that said I'm very much a layered person... I'm not going to reveal my deepest secret to someone I’ve just met... and you won't get to fully know me the first few times we meet, mostly b/c there's just so much that I'm into and thinking about, and not b/c I'm extremely shy or purposely hide things about myself. I'm real (to borrow from J Lo). If I'm feeling sad, you'll know it, if I'm happy, you'll know it. If I don't have something to say, then I keep quiet. I'm not going to act or try and be something that I'm not.
I like to think of myself as a friendly person... I will talk to anyone. I'm also a good listener... and probably one of the most understanding and non-judgemental ppl you'll meet. I'm also pretty perceptive and very observant.
One big struggle in my life was being gay and Christian. I struggled over whether I could be both for a long time... but I've come to see that I can be both. My sexuality is just one part of me, it doesn't make up my whole existence. There's so much more to me than who I sleep with.
I have yet to decide what kind of Christian I am... though practical, liberal, and worldly seem to fit (I'll let ya know which one I decide on). Even though I don't have a label, I do know what I believe. I don't follow a holier than thou, everybody sins but me doctrine... I still go out to bars and parties, but not to get drunk and not to make out with random cute guys.
That issue, coupled with a few others, is why at 25, I'm still at Western. It's taken me a few years to get myself back on track and figure out who I am. Though with that said, I am still a work in progress...
I try to learn something from every connection I make and every situation I'm in. I’m really big into self-improvement. There's obviously some things that I'd like to change about myself... so don't be surprised if the person you meet today, is not the same person you meet a year from now.
I'm complex, not complicated.

For the guys out there:
Wait for the guy who calls you handsome instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on him, who thinks you are perfect even though he knows the worst things about you, who will stay awake just to watch you sleep. Wait for the guy who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in a t-shirt and sweatpants, who holds your hand in front of his friends, who thinks you're cute when you've just woken up. Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much he loves you and how lucky he is to have you. The one who turns to his friends and says ".........that's him."

Random thoughts on Latvia

Vecriga (Old Riga) was my favorite part of the trip. The buildings are just so beautiful, colorful, and so ornate. And so old, too.... I'm sure some of them were 500 yrs old. You just don't get there ...

So I'm back from Latvia, and it was quite a trip. The journey actually started even before we left the US from Kennedy airport in New York. We (my mom, dad, and 2 of my uncles) left on May 3 (my birth...
