My name is Jason Green. I am a twenty nine year old native of Fort Wayne. I go by the stage name Dap the Crate Raida. I've been very involved in the local Hip Hop scene for many moons. (rockin parties, DJing the first Deadly Masters competition. Working with Unseen Hands and also was the turntablist for Strut Train as well as supporting many Hip Hoppers at their shows & events.I got my first set up when I was thirteen. Music is a major part of my life. My father was a DJ at his local motorcycle club. My brother (who taught me) is by far one of the coldest in the Fort. I took the skills he taught me and pushed them to another level. (Turntablism)
My Uncle Gus is a very talented musician as well. He can do anything from MIDI production to percussion. He's also one of the instructors for the Three Rivers Djembe Ensemble. Ontop of all that he also plays guitar and serenaded me as a youngster. I've grown up watching and learning from him.My grandfather Bob Green is also a well known saxophonist around town. He's played with such famed artists as Tony Monico and Chuck Mangeony. Former Mayor Paul Helmke was such a fan, that he had him play for the National Mayor's Convention in Washington D.C. My mother also plays the keys, flute and the church organ. I would sit and listen to her practice & play her old soul albums for hours. Needless to say I have been surrounded by music all my life. I feel I have a great ear for music. Also being raised around it my whole life I feel I have the inspiration as an artist to create music that moves people like I have been moved by music. After explaining all that I've just shared with you to my girlfriend, she now understands why I'm constantly making noise. Although she understands my passion, she finally sees why I suffer from S.M.O.S (spontaneous musical outburst syndrome) It still can get on her nerves at times though. The first party I ever rocked was when I was fourteen years old, with the most recent being January 21,2006 at the Downtown Cafe "Security" (OneBeLow/ Magestik Legend) show. There are too many parties and events in between to list.As a DJ for Strut Train we won the Midwest Battle of the Bands in 2000. As well as the Whammy Award for best Hip Hop group in 2001. This was by far one of the proudest moments in my musical career. Currently I am getting ready for a DJ battle in Bloomington for April 2006. (Let's add another award to that shelf)
A DJ is like the pied piper, if he plays out of tune the rats won't follow. The DJ is the backbone of the Hip Hop culture. So I take great pride in being a DJ and feel like I have a huge responsibility to the culture. If the Hip Hop flag pole should ever lean, I'll be on both knees to help hold it up!!!!2006 EVIL PIH-POH TOURThe 2006 EVIL PIH-POH Tour purpose is to BURN DOWN the Babylonian towers of stereotypes that hover over our form of musical expression! Corporate record labels and monopolies of conglomerate radio stations have all but destroyed creativity, originality, and freedom in the Original Artforms of Reggae,Jazz,Blues,Rock,Funk and now Hip Hop. Thus spawn the Revolution of the "EViL PIH-POH" (pronounced Evil Peo-ple) from various strains of FUNk-GUS which is what "outsiders" perceive "LiVE HIP-HOP" to be: EVIL People
