"Buddha told a parable in a sutra: A man traveling across a field encounters a tiger. He fled, the tiger after him. Coming to a precipice, he caught hold of the root of a wild vine and swung himself down over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Trembling, the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger was waiting to eat him. Only the vine sustained him. Two mice, one white and one black, little by little started to gnaw away the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted!" -Zen Flesh, Zen Bones....................................................... ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ..............................."The Precipice is a vivid acoustic album, where the stylized guitar picking and haunting vocals seem to summon a well of emotion, story, and presence. One person described Tully's music as "anointed." It does seem to have a sort of fervor, a tearing from the soul. While being quite personal, the lyrics are well conceived, simply poetic, and fresh. The raw folk guitar sound and his vocals are neatly accented with such sounds as a Chinese lute, driving rain, and singing frogs. If you listen to anything from Elliot Smith, The Mountain Goats, Ani Difranco, to Incubus, and Pear Jam I would wager you will definitely relish this album." ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ ............................................................ .................................. Tully MacKay-Tisbert a musician and adventurer currently living in Los Angeles, longing to go back to Cambodia or atleast for wilderness and open road and thinking someday he'll live on the Big Island of Hawaii and grow bananas and have a mango tree. For now its life in the dirty city, trying to share his music with good people.
