Eryk's Stomach

Can I get tofu instead of eggs and no cheese?

About Me

It looks like a gut. But it's the nexxus of political action. That belly there, it has all sorts of political concerns, a lifetime of political decisions. Vegetarian for 9 years. Vegan for three. Then back to Vegetarian then back to vegan and then eating fish but not milk, then eating cheese but not fish or milk.
Food is political. Vegetarianism is not only about not slaughtering animals for something as useless as meat, it's about freeing up 70% of the worlds grain which is currently going to cows instead of poor people, when you can use a pound of grain to make one meal or 70 pounds of grain to make one pound of steak to make one meal: Makes no sense.
But I like cheese. It's an incessant source of guilt. I like fish, too, but I also don't eat meat because slaughtering an animal for my taste buds makes no sense to me, is the opposite of compassionate, is the wrong thing. But I eat it.
And eggs, now I don't eat milk but I eat cheese eggs and fish. I am not even a vegetarian now. There's no stand.
I used to simply not eat. An apple and water and some bread, a day. Maybe rice. I wanted to eat like they eat in the third world, because that's what makes me terrified of food. We have so much of it and we don't even know. So my stomach is lined with acid and guilt in even measures.
