scin·til·la: spark, trace
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin
Speculative Date of origin:1661
There are roughly 6,605,046,992 people living on the face of mother Earth. 6,605,046,992 people living their own, individual, lives. It's an overwhelming number. Now think about your place in all of it. In the great scheme of things, an individual life becomes a scintilla of a whole. An individuals dreams and aspirations, though great and inspiring to those around us, are merely a scintilla of the stature which is held by the other 6,605,046,991 of us. Does that stop the desire of any one individual to "Conquer the World" as they say?
Looking at things from a musical perspective, the numbers are no less staggering. In a day and age where millions of bands/artists have sold millions of albums and millions are still trying to get there, any one band/artist becomes a scintilla of a whole yet once again.
The difference here is the ability to create and represent something different. To take the human mind, and add yet another aspect. To paint a new mental picture, without discarding where we have came from. That is where beauty in art comes from. After all, where would any of us be, if history hadn't been the future at some point?
Nonetheless, here we are. Yet another three-piece band, trying to grab your attention; trying to relate to you in our own way. Using our vision, if only a scintilla of everything imaginable, to relate to the listener. At the same time trying to keep things completely original in an era where originally seems to be the true scintilla of it all. We represent the scintilla of all people. We represent the scintilla of those trying to get there. We represent the scintilla of originality in todays kaleidoscope of music. While maintaining history's intentions for the future, we demand to be accepted by our difference. We are Syntilla.
