About Me

ABOUT THE BEATMAKERS
infectious soul food, morsels of funk and scrumptious r&b cooked up by masterchefs - the beatmakers
this band are guaranteed to get fingers snapping and toes tapping with our floor-filling grooves and funky as hell horns. expect everything from soul classics by the like of Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Ray Charles, to cult classics by Georgie Fame, Alan Hawkshaw and Spanky Wilson. but at the same time, the beatmakers like nothing better than to get down and dirty with party tunes from Kool & the Gang, Stevie Wonder and James Brown, and modern spins on the retro theme from artists such as Amy Winehouse, Prince and Mark Ronson.
the beatmakers are fast becoming the hottest ticket in town, having played riotous soul stompin' shows at Portsmouth's Wedgewood Rooms, club night Hipshaker, Southampton's Soul Cellar, the Brook, Cellars at Eastney, Brighton's Casablanca Jazz Club and more in the past year. they're also getting a reputation for being one of the top function acts in the area playing at numerous weddings and parties.
NEW TUNES
there are some new tunes available! unless you're very quick with the stop button, or you've not got your computer speakers turned on, you're listening to The Beatmakers' first studio recordings made at the Old Blacksmiths, Portsmouth in January 2008. be sure to check out the Beatmaker Medley which features 10 songs packed more tightly than Linford Christie's lunchbox!
BOOKINGS
if you are interested in booking the band either for a club/pub/festival event or for a function please get in contact either via our myspace account or by emailing [email protected]
