About Me

The discovery of song and the creation of musical instruments both owed their origin to a human impulse which lies much deeper than conscious intention: the need for rhythm in life . The need is a deep one, transcending thought, and disregarded at our peril. -- Richard Baker

After dancing to a set spun by Daniel Djang, a fan came up to him and said, "your music sounds like it started on the other end of the universe five million years ago and is just getting here." As a DJ, Daniel enjoys playing across genres, and his ability to mix seamlessly between tech-house, house, progressive, breaks, and techno in the span of a single set always keeps the dance floor grooving.
Daniel's involvement in the Los Angeles underground dance scene began when he was a member of Good Vibe Crew, helping throw such legendary events as "OZ" and "Neverland." These parties featured thousands of partiers dancing to world-class DJ talent such as Adam Beyer, Cari Lekebusch, Christian Smith, Christopher Lawrence, Joel Mull, DJ Ant, Robert Armani, Selway, and John Kelley, among many others.
His love for the music soon led Daniel beyond promoting and into DJing. His early DJ gigs (under the name Alien:D) marked him as a talent to watch, and he quickly landed a residency with the Technoholics crew. Daniel built a following spinning at their "Techtonics" parties as well as other raves and one-offs. Daniel then became a resident with OURSGathering, the outdoor tribe that eventually spawned the EPOCHSound collective. As a founding member of EPOCHSound, Daniel was a weekly resident DJ at Habitual and a monthly guest at Pure, both taking place at the now-defunct Club Sugar, the infamous Santa Monica hotspot.
Daniel is currently a resident DJ and integral member of Qoöl Los Angeles , the sister club to Jondi and Spesh’s legendary Qoöl in San Francisco. Qoöl LA launched in January 2005 and takes place every first Wednesday at the Mor Bar in Santa Monica. In March 2005, Qoöl made its debut on Proton Radio , airing the first Wednesday of each month in the prime slot following Proton's Featured Artist mix.
Daniel has shared the decks with Jondi & Spesh, Christopher Lawrence, Gabriel & Dresden, DJ Rap, Damian Lazarus, Barry Jamieson (Evolution), Trent Cantrelle, Kazell, Mike Hiratzka, Jonathan Lisle, Hisham Samawi, Dennis Rodgers, Taylor, Moontribe, Osamu M, Nosmo (Grayarea), The Ripoff Artist, Gee Moore, DJ Pathaan, DJ Baba G, Andy Newland & Rob Duffy (Audio Deluxe), and many more. In addition to playing countless club gigs, underground events, and outdoor gatherings throughout Southern California, Daniel’s DJ travels have taken him to Hong Kong, Mexico, Miami, Maui, and Portland. Since becoming a Qoöl resident, Daniel has twice had the honor of playing the closing set at Qoöl SF, followed each time by a tagteam session at Satellite .
In addition to his solo gigs, Daniel's side project Shanghai Noon (a tagteam duo featuring himself and fellow Qoöl resident Michael Scot ) continues to cause havoc on local dance floors.
Daniel's promo mixes have aired across the U.S. and around the world on outlets such as Proton Radio, DanceBBS Radio, Eccentric Beats, Energy Radio (Miami), The Fresh Page (Canada), Metromix Radio (New York), Studiocam, TranZFusion (Australia), Vinylbeats, and Xpander FM (Ireland).
Daniel's neverending search for music has forged a potent combination of cutting-edge track selection, flawless mixing, a classically trained musician’s ear, and an innate ability to read the dance floor vibe.
