Derek has extensive operations experience after managing a number of successful restaurants, casinos, catering halls, and nightclubs in Las Vegas, New York, and St. Louis.Derek graduated from The New York Restaurant School where he earned a degree in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management, which helped pave the way to a successful career at some of the country’s most renowned venues.He began his career as the Catering Sales Manager at The 200 Fifth Club in New York City. This entailed managing the day-to-day operations of a 20,000 square foot, multi-million dollar venue as well as event planning, training and purchasing. After just 2 years, he was promoted to Director of Operations at the Tribeca Rooftop, New York’s premiere special events venue and winner of Time Out Magazine’s “Best Wedding Venue in New York.” Here, he was responsible for a team of over 60 staff members, multi-million dollar accounts, menu development, décor, sales and contracts.In 2000, Derek made the move cross-country to Las Vegas, the nightlife capital of America, where he was recruited to be the manager at the prestigious, private members restaurant & lounge, the House of Blues Foundation Room in Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. It was here that Derek managed the fine-dining restaurant, catering & special events, bar & lounge, as well as the successful weekly after-hours event “Godspeed.” With a string of successes, Derek was approached by the owner of ICE Nightclub, the largest freestanding club in Las Vegas, to help open the venue and work as the General Manager. In 2004, ICE won “Best New Club” and “Best Sound System” at the Club World Awards hosted by Club Systems International at the Winter Music Conference.In 2004, Derek joined Angel Music Group, a UK based company and the worldwide leader in the nightlife industry. In his first year at Angel Music Group, Derek produced the multi-million dollar nation-wide tour, Tiesto in Concert, featuring sold-out shows in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Miami. He also continued to oversee the overall management of ICE and was featured on the 10-part reality TV series for Spike TV, “The Club”, allowing audiences to see what happens behind the velvet rope.Currently, Derek serves as Managing Director of Angel Music Group and oversees the day-to-day operations and marketing of the soon-to-be opened Home Nightclub in St. Louis, MO at the Ameristar Casino Resort Spa and the marketing & promotions for Tabu Ultra-Lounge in Las Vegas.
