About Me

Music is my heart. My mind on the other hand beats philosophical and at about 100mph. When those two get together, hang out and share a glass of wine, well, watch out; they'll yap for hours. That's one thing you need to know about me. The other is I'm interested in pushing both myself and the boundaries that surround me--those imagined, those created by myself or those created by others. The roads beyond are long. Frankly, all the best roads are long, and dusty. If I had a Mustang, I'd take them fast. But frankly, all I have are these two feet. That and far too many speeding tickets. So, I'm walking. Sure, that makes it a long journey. But aren't those the best kind?

My Interests

Music:

Influences: Currently listening to: Dylan, Arcade Fire, Nirvana, Jeff Buckley, Cat Power, Beatles, Stones, the Beach Boys, Springsteen, Ryan Adams, The Kinks, Annuals, El Perro del Mar, Annuals, Horse Feathers, Hysterics, Mazarin, Raconteurs, Patrick Wolf, The Hold Steady, Feist, Midlake, Clare Burson, Ferraby Lionheart, The Dwarves, Ted Leo, The Gainsbourg family, Radiohead, Amy Winehouse, Ane Brun, Jett Brando, Beth Orton, and of course, The Talking Heads, the reason I got into music in 1977.
Sounds Like: Frankly, right now this sounds like, well, crap. That's what you get from recording in your bedroom, with poor equiptment, and no recording engineering skills whatsoever. I really just set this MySpace up to share some demos with my friends, and by that I mean, real world friends. But if you happen to stumble across this, as this bunch of tubes we call the Internet is, from what I understand, really a global phenomena and it's likely someone will stumble through my door, allow me to say, welcome. Please. Sit down. Pour yourself a glass of wine. There's a fresh pack and a lighter on the table if you so desire (wine tastes better with cigarettes for some reason). And while I know I have the most uncomfortable couch in the history of humanity, try to make yourself comfortable. Then, I'll pick up the cheap guitar, strum a few chords, sing a few notes, and tell a few stories. If you happen to like what you hear, or if you don't, feel free to let me know either way.Oh and by the way, also check out the other band I play with, Starboard Green.
Type of Label: Major

They said rock n' roll was dead. Not the music exactly, but the spirit of rock n' roll--the rebellion, the vocal confusion of youth bursting into adulthood not knowing what the fuck either youth or a...

There's a Wino in the house

She's a drunk. If you've been following the "Amy Winehouse comes stateside saga," you know that one. And if you've heard her album, you've also likely said, "so what?" Because if drunk sings this goo...

Arcade Fire @ Judson Church February 14th

Okay. I know. Another goddamn Arcade Fire post. When will this guy stop writing about that ragtag, Canadian ensemble of high-school band geeks. Not soon. You see, a few days back I was one of the ...

A review of Arcade Fire "Neon Bible"

I can still remember the first time I heard a track from a band called Arcade Fire. Those are words I can imagine many people saying ten years from now. Or permutations thereof. I remember the firs...

Look out for Love

This is the sort of video that really requires no introduction.  However, since verbosity is my forte, I figured I'd write about a thousand words to descibe the image in the link below.  Tha...

Vietnam and The Autumn Defense

Yes. I know. There I go making proclamations about daily postings and what don't I do? Post daily. Clearly, my discipline is lacking. And I'm sure the two of you who actually read this blog knew ...

Fuck you VH1! I'm counting them down myself.

Every time I watch a countdown show on VH1, the 100 greatest songs in rock n' roll, the 40 worst moments in celebrity hygenie, I find I can't stop watching. Can't turn it off even if it's a four-hour...

I can't change my mode

Remember that video? It's the Verve. The song is "Bittersweet Symphony." And it's one of those rare, wonderful MTV moments that actually says something about the world and music. What it reveals is...
