I've had a variety of hobbies over the years. In school I played clarinet in marching band and orchestra, and I played tenor sax in jazz band. Went to the U with Kenny G[orlich].I love jazz and I now swing dance and DJ, it's an interesting way besides playing to stay in touch with the music. You can find me out and about at the various swing venues around town. Swinger in my profile does mean "Swing Dancing"!
Not sure. Surprise me!
Jazz: Louis Armstrong, Ella, Duke Ellington, Count Basie. My swing lover is Jack Teagarden, too bad he drank himself to death before I had a chance to meet him......
I was recently asked what my top 3 movies of all time are; hard to answer, but what I said was Moonstruck, Casablanca and Gladiator. lol. I even have an X-rated version of Gladiator, they did a good job.
oh Bravo is going to be the death of me. Top Chef, Top Design, Project Runway, Workout, Real Housewives of Orange County! They have mastered the 10 week show that can keep our short little attention spans going these days. I also am becoming a fan of Anthony Bourdian and "No Reservations".
I've been in the same book club for over 7 years now, it's coed which is interesting since the men tend to pick different types of books than the women - no Oprah's club here! The book club pick this month is: Longitude - The Story of a Lone Genius Who Solved the Greatest Scientific Problem of His Time - by Dana Sobel.
Brenda Starr is my namesake and she is pretty cool. First comic strip post WWII modern female lead. Allegedly a feminist role, but she had to put up with running around finding black orchid serum for her husband all the time. He was pretty hot though; they had a cute kid named Starr Twinkle. On a serious note, my real heroes are Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Daisaku Ikeda, Rosa Parks, and all others who take creating peace seriously and abhor discrimination.
