About Me

Adam de la Cour (b.1979) is an experimental composer and performer living just outside London. He studied composition with Rodney Newton, Kit Turnbull and Michael Finnissy who supervised his Doctorate at Southampton University.
de la Cour has written for various ensembles and soloists accross the UK, the US and Europe including Michael Finnissy, Ah! you sitting comfortably (Vicky Wright/Peter Willcock), Laura Moody, Mark Knoop, The Calculators, Arco Collective, Anne Rhodes, Matthew Knowles, and is currently writing a Piano Trio (with clown) for IXION ensemble and a piece based on Artaud's 'Pour en finir avec le jugement de dieu' for Libra Duo Mark Knoop and Carl Rosman.
As a vocalist/guitarist/clown he has performed at the Southbank, the Barbican, Spitalfields, Expo and Soundwaves festivals, and recorded for BBC Radio 3 premiering works by Michael Finnissy and Chris Newman.
de la Cour was a featured artist in Richard Cork's article The Stubborn Art (Financial Times' exclusive Drawing supplement) and has exhibited work at spaces such as the Southampton artvaults and The Centre for Recent Drawing. His work embraces a huge diversity of influences with his scores combining elements of video, photography, literary cut-up techniques, absurdity, 'Pataphysics and comic book form.
'Lullabaababyt' was written for Arthur Underwood and originally performed by
Michael Finnissy
'Three Boxes and a Cube', 'The Real Imaginary Framed Existence of Ringhead and Loon' and 'H' were on show at C4RD (centre for recent drawing) between April 4th - 20th 2007.
