Salem, Oregon - On March 14th 2006, Slackertone Records will release "John Fahey & Friends - Friends Of Fahey Tribute" to commemorate the Grammy Award winning artist Rolling Stone magazine called "A folk-blues innovator of the 1960s who became a post-punk hero in the 1990s." The album, which contains a never before released song from Fahey's last ever acoustic recording session, features a stellar lineup of world famous musicians.
With songs either written or inspired by Fahey, George Winston, John Renbourn, Stefan Grossman, Paul Geremia, Woody Mann, Mark Lemhouse, Tinh, Terry Robb, Mitch Greenhill, Peter Lang, John Doan and Mayne Smith lay down solid tracks with the beauty and artistry that have made them famous figures across several music genres. These performers have generously donated their proceeds to the non-profit Village School Foundation . When's the last time a noble cause sounded this good?
