Besides my navel lint? I read voraciously, swim, hike, bike, dance, sing out loud and have been known to find the insides of my eyelids extremely interesting on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
I think I covered this pretty well in the "about me" section although, taking liberty with this topic, I wouldn't mind meeting Bill Maher, Leonardo da Vinci, Dave Barry, P.J. O'Rourke, Ellen DeGeneres, Condaleeza Rice, and Anna Quindlen. That's just the short list.
Just as eclectic as my reading material. It's all over the board but to give you an idea some of my favorite artists include:Audioslave, Puddle of Mudd, Three Doors Down, Nickelback, Creed, Nirvana, Evanescence, Coldplay, Joe Sample, Diana Krall, Liz Story, Eagles, Joe Cocker, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Duran Duran, and Mozart just to name a few. I also love piano solos, classical guitar and certain country western artists as long as the songs don't entail losing one's pickup truck, girlfriend, or dog (not necessarily in that order).
Okay, I got the feeling back in my hands so I can continue with this endless monologue...fascinating as I am I get weirded out by divulging all my secrets to thousands (okay maybe 10 or so) strangers.I love to watch movies and like my books and music quite an eclectic selection. Some of my all-time favorites include (but not limited to) Tommy Boy (duh), Apocolypse Now, Boondock Saints (awesome), Caddyshack, any period pieces such as Elizabeth, Pride and Prejudice, etc., Mulholland Falls, American Beauty...hell, I just looked at my dvd collection and I could be here all day. I haven't really gone to the movie theatre lately 'cuz I like being able to pause the movie for snack breaks but I did drag myself to see "Jarhead". Can't quite remember the plot but the sight of all those half-naked and fully naked Marines was well worth the price of admission. I give it two thumbs up and a hearty round of applause. Semper fi...
This is a tricky one. If you answer it too enthusiastically people will think all you do is lay around channel surfing because you have no life...hmm. Dilemma. I do watch movies and the digital channels like Animal Planet, Forensic Files, and of course ESPN. I also like to tune into Bill Maher, the Sopranos on occasion when I'm feeling vengeful, Sex and the City to confirm my suspicions that not just the great unwashed are having a hard time finding a meaningful relationship, and if I'm home, I watch Dr. Phil. He's a god.
The space allotted is simply too small to list all of my favorite books. Suffice it to say that my tastes run from one end of the spectrum to the other with a definite detour around romance novels...a waste of words if you ask me. I give credit to my extensive reading for the immense vocabulary and curious nature I possess. I am most happy surrounded by my books and have a stack of unread ones on my coffee table singing their siren song to lure me to the couch and into their world or venue. I pity anyone who hasn't discovered the power of the written word. I was the kid under the covers at night with a flashlight reading anything I could get my hands on. The book "Fahrenheit 451" truly disturbed me as I couldn't imagine a world without books. Ayn Rand and her books "Atlas Shrugged" and "The Fountainhead" were two pivotal books in my teenage years as well as the "Dune" series by Frank Herbert. Mindblowing.
We have a sincere lack of heroes today. It seems as though everyone is so focused in on their own gratification they can't see beyond the end of their hands. But since we are asking this question of moi, I must reach back to my childhood and say that the one hero that stands out is Wonder Woman. I thought she was awesome: kickin' ass, takin' names and doing it all with cool weapons and costume accessories like her wristbands. The greatest trick was how she always knew where her invisible ship was located. I think she had one of those clappers to help her out.
