About Me

I guess all you need to know is that my dreams are finally coming true. I'm moving to Chicago to fullfil my dream of becoming a chef. The quotes below say it all about me :-D
How can I describe it? Good food is like music you can taste, color you can smell. There is excellence all around you. You need only be aware to stop and savor it.
- Chef Auguste Gusteau, "Ratatouille"
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
- Walt Disney
When I got thrown into this war I had a clear understanding with the Pentagon: no guns. I'll carry your books, I'll carry a torch, I'll carry a tune, I'll carry on, carry over, carry forward, Cary Grant, cash and carry, carry me back to Old Virginia, I'll even 'hari-kari' if you show me how, but I will not carry a gun!
- Captain Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce, M.D.
As a cook, tastes and smells are my memories.
- Chef Anthony Bourdain
Remember, the light at the end of the tunnel may be you.
- Aerosmith, "Amazing"
The Force will be with you, always.
- Obi-Wan Kenobi, "A New Hope"
Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious... and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.
- Walt Disney (as shown in "Meet The Robinsons")
Only presidents, editors and people with tapeworm have the right to use the editorial 'we'.
- Mark Twain
Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.
- John Lennon
If that's what you have in mind and if that's what you're all about, good luck movin' up 'cause I'm movin' out.
- Billy Joel
Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the Moon July 1969, A.D. We came in peace for all mankind.
- Apollo 11 plaque left on Moon
Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.
- Judy Garland
We are to assume that she is a woman scorned, like which fury hell hath no!
- Captain Jack Sparrow, "At World's End"
I reject your reality and substitute my own.
- Adam Savage
I'm sorry religion is so retarded but it is.
- Bill Maher
I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the Earth.
- John F. Kennedy
Understanding is a kind of ecstasy.
- Carl Sagan

My Interests

I love cooking, music, pictures, reading, my computers, and my home. I'm a Steelers fan. I talk a lot but I know that. I'm proud of my family and all that we've made it through. I enjoy quotations and my world revolves around song lyrics. I love all things food except olives, sweet pickles, mustard (I can cook with it though), and capers.

I'd like to meet:

A gorgeous guy (Russian accent a plus), tall and built like a young Alan Alda (circa 1973) with a sense of humor & personality like no other and a kindness that won't go unnoticed. He's patient, sane, emotionally stable, and a great kisser. Additionally, he's intelligent, musically-inclined, and a nerd at heart. I want that "song lyrics, "happily ever after" movie" kind of love and to lose myself in his kiss. Is that too much to ask?

Otherwise, Johnny Depp. Until I meet "Mr. Right", Johnny Depp is the HOTTEST man on this planet - what I wouldn't do with him. Orlando Bloom is a close second...needless to say, I'm a fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. But I digress...I'd love to meet my celebrity chef idols: Bobby Flay, Rachael Ray, Mario Batali, Paula and Bobby Deen, Emeril, Wolfgang Puck, and Alton Brown. Since so much of what I know is due to Julia Child, I'd love to be able to cook a true French meal with her. Jonathan Larson would be a great person to have a cup of coffee with, just so I could explain to him how far RENT has come since opening night - to tell him how it changed so many lives and what he's missed. I want to meet Alan Alda so he can teach me how to do the Lindy. George Lucas has to make an appearance on this list somewhere. John Lasseter (pioneer of Pixar) seems like an awesome person. Johnny Reznick, The Dixie Chicks, Johnny and June Carter Cash, Kenny Loggins, Rob Thomas, John Williams, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp...all the people who influenced me, whether it be musically, theatrically, culinarily, or any combination of the former.

Music:

I do enjoy music, everything from southern rock, modern rock, and classic rock, to pop, country, and classical - and everything in between.

Movies:

Star Wars; anything with Will Ferrell, Johnny Depp, Mandy Moore, Julia Stiles, and Tom Hanks; anything by Judd Apatow; sports movies like Coach Carter, Miracle, and Remember the Titans; "based on a true story" movies, such as Radio, Take The Lead, and Catch Me If You Can; crime dramas if they are done correctly; all Disney/Pixar movies; and just about anything I deem as worth seeing.

Television:

M*A*S*H, DEXTER, The Office, Deadliest Catch (go Northwestern!), ArmyWives, the Food Network, Project Runway, Comedy Central Presents, Mythbusters, and generally anything on Discovery, Discovery Health, the History Channel, or my onDemand channels.

Books:

Biographies, non-fiction, teen fiction, and the Malory novels by Johanna Lindsey.

Heroes:

My Dad.
