Bob Costas. He's dreamy. He even makes sports seem interesting.
Beck, Built to Spill, Thievery Corporation, Beatles, Black Keys, Iron and Wine, Belle and Sebastian, Postal Service, The Shins, The Ravonettes, Go Team, Block Party, Pixies, The Roots, Tony Allen, T-Rex, Beastie Boys, White Stripes, Billie Holiday and on and on...but Dougie and Liz are trying to train me to like even better music.
I like funny British people. That includes Ricky Gervais, French and Saunders, Eddie Izzard the unparalleled Monty Python boys and of course Prince Charles. On our side of the ocean it's The Daily Show, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Studio 60 and The West Wing. And Japan takes one with Iron Chef.
I like all sorts of books, but I especially appreciate ones that take place in my current city of residence. As of now it's New York City. Featuring the Empire State Building is a bonus as well, which makes The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon up there on my list. Blindess by Jose Saramago has taken up the number one spot, but I also love reading David Sedaris, Dave Eggers, Joe Orton, Martin McDonagh, E.L. Doctorow, Roald Dahl, Anthony Burgess, Jhumpa Lahiri and really anything else that is placed in my hands. I also have a strong infatuation with The New Yorker. Paul Rudnick is easily my favorite humorist, but I read everything in that magazine. It seems clear I like the funny stuff, but what I find really interesting are the articles by that doctor. You know, that one. I like him so much, I can't remember who he is.
Bill Irwin, Buster Keaton, and my mom, although she doesn't do physical comedy quite as well...at least not on purpose.
