About Me

I'm a classic multi-tasker. By classic I mean unfortunate. And by multi-task I mean I have focus issues. At any given time I have at least four side projects I am working on, which I really just use to procrastinate what I should be doing that day. It keeps me busy and happy, which is really all I can hope for. Instead of saying I am distracted, I like to say I am "motivated" or "creatively engaged," but really I am just mucking around.

My Interests

..

I'd like to meet:

Bob Costas. He's dreamy. He even makes sports seem interesting.

Music:

Beck, Built to Spill, Thievery Corporation, Beatles, Black Keys, Iron and Wine, Belle and Sebastian, Postal Service, The Shins, The Ravonettes, Go Team, Block Party, Pixies, The Roots, Tony Allen, T-Rex, Beastie Boys, White Stripes, Billie Holiday and on and on...but Dougie and Liz are trying to train me to like even better music.

Television:

I like funny British people. That includes Ricky Gervais, French and Saunders, Eddie Izzard the unparalleled Monty Python boys and of course Prince Charles. On our side of the ocean it's The Daily Show, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Studio 60 and The West Wing. And Japan takes one with Iron Chef.

Books:

I like all sorts of books, but I especially appreciate ones that take place in my current city of residence. As of now it's New York City. Featuring the Empire State Building is a bonus as well, which makes The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon up there on my list. Blindess by Jose Saramago has taken up the number one spot, but I also love reading David Sedaris, Dave Eggers, Joe Orton, Martin McDonagh, E.L. Doctorow, Roald Dahl, Anthony Burgess, Jhumpa Lahiri and really anything else that is placed in my hands. I also have a strong infatuation with The New Yorker. Paul Rudnick is easily my favorite humorist, but I read everything in that magazine. It seems clear I like the funny stuff, but what I find really interesting are the articles by that doctor. You know, that one. I like him so much, I can't remember who he is.

Heroes:

Bill Irwin, Buster Keaton, and my mom, although she doesn't do physical comedy quite as well...at least not on purpose.

My Blog

Kissing the Lapless

In general, being a short type person isn't so bad. I've been a practicing short person for quite some time and I think I am getting the hang of it. But there are some disadvantages, which come at y...

Where do the homeless sleep?

Today, at 3:41 am, as I walked down the platform of the N (as in Nancy) train at Thirty-fourth Street, past all the sleeping homeless people nestled in their wooden benches, I noticed a particularly c...

I think it is bitchin' that I dedicated that last blog to three people, and then those three people each posted a comment. Bitchin'

Laundry

This is dedicated to the three people who read this. You know who you are. And I know who you are. That's why this is for you. And no one else.I don't understand why laundry stresses people out. ...

Short

I've always been a short person. I was never tall by comparison, or even average height throughout my life. Always short. Somehow the constant shortness makes me forget about it. Since I am always...

My day, 3/12

Today, as I cleaned under the microwave, I found a lima bean, a pretzel, and a button.  The lima bean was the most unexpected.
