My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://cdbaby.com/cd/melaniejohnson2
Influences: Aimee Mann, Barenaked Ladies, Neil Finn, Michael Penn, ednaswap, Anne Previn, Glenn Tilbrook, Keane, Guster, Green Day, Jonatha Brooke, Sam Phillips, Genesis (with Peter Gabriel), Jethro Tull, Supertramp...also, Petula Clark, The Monkees, The Hollies, Lulu...George Gershwin, Cal Collins, Rosemary Clooney...Rick Bragg's "All Over But the Shouting", Barbara Kingsolver's "Animal Dreams", anything by Dave Barry....and also a trip my family took in 2001. It was our first time "out west", and we went to see Walnut Canyon. We climbed down about 200 steps, then up about 200 steps to reach an impossible ledge where people actually lived a thousand years ago. Midway through the climb back up, we stopped to rest. A blackening sky pushed winds that occasionally managed to rustle the ancient evergreens in the canyon. It was then, in that windy silence, I truly felt that it all might just be this, just me and the lonely place I live. Yep, that's me. All of it.
Sounds Like: All of the above, but mostly like Anne Preven and Jonatha Brooke
Record Label: Streamliner Songs

I was a Bela Fleck fan from the moment I heard the first Flecktones CD, falling in love with such tracks as Half Moon Bay and Sunset Road. And to really leave no mystery about my age, the last/only t...
