AKW (Reggae DJ)

About Me

Catch AKW each & every Thursday at "Reggae On Top" @ Troy Bar, 10 Hoxton Street, London N1 alongside Trevor Skin2Skin and Naoko. An established night for uplifting reggae music & tasty caribbean food served in the heart of Hoxton.
Shes worked across all aspects of the business, from producing the reggae section of Angie Dees legendary Kiss FM show to writing reviews and interviewing artists such as Tony Rebel, the late great Garnet Silk, Cocoa Tea, Chackademus & Pliers, Buju Banton for Reggae Trade, Streetsounds and 911.com.
With artist Sarjant D, AKW set up reggae label Plenty Hot Records and has worked with producers Dave Kelly, Stingray, Riksta, Sticky as well as artists Freddie McGregor, Gosple Fish, Admiral Tibet and Ronnie Richards.
AKWs passion for reggae music stems from her early punk days following the Clash. She plays reggae ranging from studio one, rocksteady, roots & culture to current dancehall and her numerous trips to Jamaica have enabled her to record dubplates for her sets at dances, clubs and parties.
AKW is part of the Roots Vibes Sound who played at the Brixton Dogstar for 3 years, has been a guest selector at Hometown Hi Fi (Simon from Basement Jaxx and Raf Daddys Sound System), Ocean Of Sound (with Big Chill DJs Lol Hammond and Freddie B) , Soxa N, Sofa Sessions, Greenpeace Xmas party, Ocean, Hackney, Maximus, The Brain, 13 Gerrard St, Subterrania,The White Horse, Brixton, Lock Tavern , Camden Town, Batchwood Hall (St Albans), Medcalf Bar, Exmouth Market, djed at the Bournemouth Opera House for the Wailers show & more recently Glastonbury.
