About Me

I was born and raised in Michigan, and will always be a Midwestern girl at heart. I have also lived in Florida and Washington and currently reside in New Mexico (for the second time), but have yet to settle anywhere long enough to call it home. I just finished a Bachelors degree at Washington State University in Political Science and am preparing to begin a Master's degree in Latin American Studies at the University of New Mexico. I love to travel and am determined to explore every corner of the world one trip at a time. I have already seen much of the U.S. and have also been to Europe, Asia and South America as well as Canada and Mexico (although I am not sure that those two really count). Politics and human rights are my two main passions in life and I hope to one day work in the human rights field which would allow me to unite those two passions with my love of traveling. Luckily I have a wonderful husband who is willing to follow wherever my dreams and ambitions take me. Overall, I love life and I can't wait to see where it takes me.

Music:

First and foremost I love Jazz, the older the better. I also love blues, big band, swing and bluegrass. Besides jazz and its related genres, I have fairly diverse musical tastes; I like country, classical, classic rock, hip-hop, new age and whatever else I happen to be in the mood for.

Movies:

The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, The Butterfly Effect, The Constant Gardener, Hotel Rwanda, The Notebook, Voces Inocentes, City of God, Maria Full of Grace, Donnie Darko, Napoleon Dynamite, Thank You For Smoking, Children of Men, V for Vendetta..

Television:

Sex and the City (the HBO version, not the crappy, chopped up TBS version), The Sopranos, just about anything on TLC,The History Channel, or The Discovery channel, Dr. Phil, Scrubs, Family Guy, The Simpsons, American Dad, The Daily Show.

Books:

My favorite author is Toni Morrison, I also like Ann Rice, J.R.R. Tolkien, Michael Crichton, Isaac Asimov, Dean Koontz, George Orwell, Thomas L. Friedman, Jared Diamond, and many others. I don't stick with one genre in particular, I will read pretty much any type of book as long as it is well written and interesting.

Heroes:

Strong, Intelligent, Independent women around the world.
