About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !
Tracy Arrington, aka Big Dog lives up to his name. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington Tracy has made his home all over the world with his music The sizeable talent of this young bassist has taken him on the road with the Steve Miller Band, The Doobie Brothers, Paul Rogers and Tower of Power.Tracy came to his musical instrument at the age of eight. The son of a preacher, Tracy grew up on gospel and R&B. The sounds of Al Green, Sam and Dave, Wilson Pickett, Mighty Clouds of Joy, and Shirley Caesar all served as early influences and sources of inspiration for his work. Tracy and his older brother Mark, a drummer, would throw grooves down on Sunday mornings to the likes of James Brown, Sly Stone and Wilson Pickett which would often prompt his father to get up and dance. His dad would quickly catch himself and slyly reprimand the boys with This is Sunday. You aint playin for the devil today-that was last night!Tracy began doing session work at the age of 15, doing jingles around the Seattle area, and miscellaneous pop recordings between Seattle, Los Angeles and Nashville. His first band was with his brother Mark, Jay and Doug Roberts, both sons of the late Howard Roberts - the founder of GIT and famous for his work on early Hollywood television soundtracks such as the Twilight Zone and Beverly Hillbillies. Howard took the talented bassist under his wing and used his assistance on the Chroma guitar training method for beginners. As a result of these early endeavors he began playing year after year at the NAMM show in Anaheim. and filmed a commercial for Chroma with Scott Henderson of Tribal Tech.Upon graduating from high school, Tracy joined Seattle favorite The Fat James Band. This turned into a seven-year stint, giving him the opportunity to tour in the United States and abroad. They opened for such bands as the Doobie Brothers, the Turtles, and Kansas. The Fat James Band also backed Paul Rogers for several shows in the Northwest during this period.Tracy left Fat James to play with Curtis Salgado from Portland, Oregon. Salgado already had a host of credits under his belt, having fronted such bands as Santana, Roomful of Blues, the Robert Cray Band, and Albert Collins. It was Salgado who was the inspiration for the movie The Blues Brothers, which starred John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd. Curtis asked Tracy if hed be willing to play a couple of gigs, but Tracys talent earned him a three year tenure with the band. During this period, Tracy opened for acts such as Tower of Power, George Thoroughgood & the Destroyers, the Steve Miller band, John Lee Hooker, and Sons of Chaplin. In addition to playing bass, Tracy assisted Salgado with musical direction, song arrangement, and singing. When Tracy wasnt on the road with Curtis he backed Little Milton and substituted as a bassist for Eric Benet. He played in Seattle cover band Gruvbox and also put together bands for Seattle Seahawk Ricky Waters and North Carolina based singer Melissa Reeves.Currently, Arrington can be heard on the album with Curtis Salgado called Soul Activated which hit the shelves January 2001. This album earned 3.5 stars on Billboard immediately after its release and features the Memphis Horns, Jimmy Vaughn and Lou Ann Barton. In conjunction with the launch of the CD Tracy has recently relocated to Los Angeles, CA where he plans to further his musical career.
