AUTUMN'S FACE
To see you now, no one would ever know
the secrets you hide.
A beautiful sight to behold
of God's grace and treasures untold,
but why Autumn do you hide your face?
Your canopy tries to hide
from heavenly eyes the whips & chains
that brought men to their knees.
Men bound to tree trunks that felt
the sting and foreign tongues crying,
Stop please!
Can the beautiful hues of your
yellow, orange & red leaves
hide the blood that was spilled?
Can these leaves ever hide the
graves of those who were killed?
Nature has it's way
of healing us a little every day.
A cool breeze, warm seas,
a crisp winter morn,
a new baby being born.
The brook at your roots
is getting clearer by the day and
now it is time to say,
away with these leaves
scattered along your base.
It is now time, Autumn,
to show your face.
