He decided that at the age of just 3 years he would pack up his hungry hippos and games such as ‘lights out’ and head for the city known as Bristol. Coming from a gifted musical family, G-nius A.k.a grant smith decided that at the age of just nine that he would buy himself some soundlab Dlp1600 turntables and a maplin mixer and get into djing. The choice of music to mix back then was ‘happy hardcore’ and once he had mastered that style of music he grew bored very quickly and moved onto drum n bass/ jungle. Once again, even though he loved to mix there was just something missing, until one day he teamed up with a scratch dj named Dj Rouge. To cut a long story short the G-nius would spend countless hours practicing on his technics 1200s until he had mastered how to scratch and not sound like nails down a chalkboard. Djing became second nature to the G-nius and he became very interested in music production. Mixing styles from Dean Travers (an excellent independent musician), phi-life, slum village, task force, Harry love, skinny man, one step beyond, Erikah badu, Jill Scott, Dj premier, common, guru, tony miller, gangster, Julie winters and many more. The G-nius began to blend a whole range of styles together in order to create a different sound. His music has meaning, not just for his self but also for the people and seems carry something different every time you listen. Today the G-nius is trying to get a message across to all, its about life, and how it shapes our everyday situations in so many different ways. So stay positive and keep focused in everything you do and may respect go out to all who produce, write, rap, sing or contribute to the struggle of survival, peace, one love the G-nius
