Ezme has been playing the cello since she was 6, and has enjoyed success as a solo, ensemble and orchestral player. She was a very happy student of the Purcell School of Music in Harrow from 95-98, and then a less than happy student at the Royal College of Music from 98-99 when she left in disgust because of the institutionalised snobbery that was rife there (grrrr..)From the age of 18 she developed a new way of playing the cello, ie standing up and dancing, as a result of street performing in Covent Garden with the quartet 'Bebeto'. With this group she developed a show which wowed audiences with its acrobatic movements whilst playing classical music, and travelled all over the world to festivals and to do TV, theatre and school work. The success spanned 5 years during which time Ezme gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Star Gaze in September 2000.Finding herself on her own in 2003, Ezme has become a successful performer in her own right as a cellist who performs (rather than just sits and plays!) with a variety of different groups; Bowjangles (dancing string quartet), Crazy Strings (comedy and mime string ensemble) Paperfin, Nexus, The Sanderson Pitch and most recently The Cinematic Orchestra to name but a few. Ezme also arranges and records string parts as a session musician for various bands and singer-songwriters. She plays a 1910 English 'cello by J W Watkinson and is also sponsored by 'Quintus' Carbon Fiber Instruments who have gifted her a beautifully made (and virtually indestructable!) carbon fibre 'Ultimus' 'cello.
Ezme also performs as a stilt walker- Keep your eyes peeled at the festivals this summer.Ezme is currently undertaking an ITEC course in massage, and will very soon be qualified to rub you all up, so form an orderly queue..
