Mivvi originally formed in the early nineties, and were well known as a bouncy, upbeat pop/rock foursome until, jaded by the music industry, they split in 1999.
In 2002, Big Rich decided to learn the drums, and started jamming with his cousin Nicky P.
This soon lead to a revival of a lot of the old mivvi songs as rich had always been a fan, and after checking with bass player tricky's wife that it was okay for him to come out and play, Mivvi: was reformed a new with two of the original members, plus a new drummer.
The three piece combo rapidly made several of the original mivvi favourites into new, revamped and revived versions, along with adding a healthy dose of their own newer, rawer sounding songs, and started gigging in and around the birmingham scene, doing such events as the birmingham artsfest in chamberlain square.
2004 saw mivvi hard at work recording in the studio, putting sufficient material together to make an album. With artwork supplied by Siravalenta, mivvi: vs the machine became a reality. In some ways it was a way to put some of the older mivvi hits to rest and in others it was a way to snub the record industry and prove that you CAN do it on your own without them.
The latter half of 2004 and most of 2005 was a relatively quiet time for Mivvi: as they awaited the NHS to get it's act together for a throat op for lead singer Nicky P. and during this time, Mivvi: recruited a 4th member, bass player Tricky's older brother, Phil H.
With the addition of the new member, the song writing has been going on under cover of darkness for the past 6 months or so, and we're now about ready to re-unleash ourselves on the world at large, with a whole bunch of new material.
So watch this space....
