I'm a 27 year old trombone player! I've been playing professionally for 7 years in many different bands, in many different situations. I play jazz, funk, salsa, blues, or anything else I can get my hands on! I'm back to Vancouver, Canada now, after being in Melbourne, Australia from Jan 1 of 2006 until June of 2007 and progressively picked up more and more gigs in the time I spent there. I played with the Nudist Funk Orchestra at the Espy every Sunday! Its a great band, and great tunes, a great vibe in a great venue!! We also do a few private functions with various incarnations of this setup! I played with a great 10 piece salsa band called Combo La Revelacion !!!! I've played a lot of latin music, but this is certainly some of the most fun I've had doing it! We played at various venues around Melbourne, and were on the main Stage at Meredith Musicfest 2006! Another project I was workin hard on getting together lately was Just a Girl , the Australian No Doubt Tribute Show! It was heaps of fun, (I was playing some simple backing keyboard lines, singing backing vocals, and playing percussion aswell as trombone!!) and the band sounds just amazing! You'll forget that No Doubt ever stopped playing!! Other gigs I did regularly included filling in for either of the great sax players in Jammination - a great 5 or 6 piece funk band that plays Revellers on friday nights, and The Laundry on Thursdays - and I also did a big band gig there with the Chris D'Aloisio Big Band!
I write some music aswell, mostly so far instrumental funky jazz, but I've also written a few salsa tunes which have yet to be recorded. I've done some arrangements of a few different funk tunes aswell.
About the songs I have up here so far, the first is my most recent recording and the newest track to this page!!! Live with the Nudist Funk Orchestra at the Espy in mid 2006!! Was a GREAT night!
The second is an original composition and arrangement of mine called Directly Indirect performed by some great friends (not to mention great players) in Vancouver at Ai Recording Arts School. Line up is: Kent Wallace -trp, Adrian Lock - keys, Mark Vasak - guit, Mike Kennedy - bass, Sam Cartwright - drms, Gareth Seys - trb, engineered by the fabulous Steve Fiendell!!
The third song is an arrangement I did of three tunes from the Interstate 76 soundtrack, being played live by Five Alarm Funk Vancouver 2005. I was a member of this band in fact and have some writing credit on one of the tunes for their new album aswell which is being released in Vancouver on March 10, 2006.
The fourth is a tune called Frydays's Song performed in 2002 by Kynkayd: an all original 6 piece funk band. We played a lot of shows in Vancouver and started to get quite a following!! Recorded in Vancouver at Ai.
Happy Listening, and thanks for stopping by:)
