Self pity is the slowest form of suicide known to man.

About Me

I have the social skills of a turnip. Normal people scare me slightly. Possibly more than slightly, and I imagine I scare them slightly in return. I describe my writing style as "Postmodern Beatpunk." Coffee gives me enough energy to power several small cities. I quite possibly spend more time reading than I do breathing. My thought processes tend to run perpendicular to those of my contemporaries. I like big words. I don't get to use them much though. So sad.

I believe in the unlimited potential of the human mind.
I believe in the amazing power of unrelenting politeness.
I believe that good things come back to you, exponentially. The wait is a bitch though.
I believe that to rule with love is to insulate yourself from an uncertain future, while to rule with fear is to give it teeth.
I believe that things that are big have an obligation to take care of things that are small.

I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself. - D.H. Lawrence

Children of Men (May contain mild spoilers)

I bought the movie "Children of men" last night and I must say frankly that it is amazing. The year is 2017, eighteen years after a pandemic of infertility brings the sum human birthrate to zero. Theo...

Why Philosophy?

"Nobody can be saved from anything, unless they save themselves. It is hopeless to do things for people-it is often very dangerous to do things at all-and the only thing worth doing for the race is to...

Question of the day 6-7-2007

Now that I have reasonably reliable internet access again, I'm going to start posting a philisophical question of the day. I had a good response at work to this one from a few people because it's such...

Shrek 3

I liked it. I really liked it. Donkey and Puss-in-boots are wearing thin, but I thought the Hippy Merlin was genius. It was a very fresh re-imagining of the character while staying true to the mythos...

Tools

I splurged today, I bought a nice little 18 volt cordless drill and Zillion-in-one set of bits. Tools bring a feeling of empowerment, an "I can change things." feeling. Even if it's just a little fix-...

Musing on labels

I was thinking about labels and labeling the other day. Some people balk rather severely at the idea of being labeled. I don't think that they are per se afraid of the act of being labeled, but are af...
