I'm a happily overcommitted doctoral student. Besides reading and writing like my life depends on it (and it does!), I also love to sing, play and teach violin, travel, and socialize. I have lived in the Triangle for ages and am blessed with terrific friends and a great church here! I am still a committed
DUKE fan even though I owe my current livelihood to that
other school down the road ;). I'm not sure what my future holds, but I'm content in the moment and grateful for all of the opportunities I've had so far.
This summer I took a "world tour" to Seattle, the Philippines, Japan, and Whitinsville--a conference, weddings, research, and vacation all rolled into one! It was an amazing experience made possible by lots of supportive people in my life--family, advisors, and friends (old and new)--for whom I am incredibly grateful.
