While Blackball officially came together in 2001 the boys have been together most of their lives. JASON MORGAN (Singer) and GARY MORGAN (Drummer) are blood relatives. BILLY WILLIAMS (Lead Guitar) and Jason have been best friends since their young days when they were first discovering the earthly pleasures and perils of women, drugs and alcohol.
Mixing musical influences that range from the obvious, like Sex Pistols and Aerosmith, to the not so obvious, Willie Nelson and Elvis Costello, their music is uniquely their own. "We probably fit more in the pure Rock N Roll mode as far as music, I mean when I here a song like Welcome to the Working Week by Elvis Costello, I feel like this guy has been in my head, hes been where Ive been and it F*cking inspires me", says Jason.
While the band is no stranger to recording (they have recorded at least five demo type albums) After sending rough tracks for pre production to Keith Nelson (Buckcherry), they entered Big Bang Audio (under the direction of engineer Ronni Santmyer and Max Mueller (Love Nut) in January 2004 to start work on what is going to be, as they put it, their first real record.
After overcoming some personal struggles and internal conflicts they emerged in April 2004 with songs written with obvious genius. These boys have walked the walk and they damn sure talk the talk. From the beginning ring of the open E of Mountains to the last tasty wa-wa driven lead of Dirty, the CD just rocks full of passionate emotion and raw energy. This band has definitely reached a new level.
Blackball has moved past the typical local band that tries to hard to follow the overproduced pop formula that they see on MTV. Sometimes when you try to please everyone you end up not pleasing yourself they definitely seem to know who they are and what they want.
The final pieces of the puzzle have been installed just recently in 06. BOOKER has come back to re-claim his position on rhythm guitar and bass player LA MONEY has just joined the mix. So if you want to support something real and stand up for a band that will never forget where they come from, treat yourself to some real Rock N Roll. These boys do it and they do it well.
