~ Only When I Breathe ~
"Amanda Hunt-Taylor's debut album is a rare complex collection of songs from a person with a rare and complex combination of talents. She writes with emotional intelligence, but also with emotional abandonment, and though her voice is a wonderfully pure and controlled melodic instrument, she surrenders herself to every song, and you forget that your listening to a record."
From the late, great Randy Vanwarmer - Pop artist/songwriter - You Left Me Just When I needed You Most.

The co-writer of “Your Love Amazes Me†has a lovely solo CD. Her soulful singing on this, its title tune is backed by stark guitar strumming and eerie melodica pumping. It will get under your skin and into your mind. Memorable and imaginative work.†Robert K. Oermann - “Music Row Magazineâ€

Alanna Nash Review - COUNTRY MUSIC MAGAZINE -
Why is it that so many of the really creative singer/songwriters just ripe for bursting through the commercial wall happen to be women? Case in point: Amanda Hunt-Taylor, best known for writing John Berry's stirring hit "Your Love Amazes Me." Hunt-Taylor, originally from Atlanta Georgia, grew up the daughter of a songwriter, with music coursing through her viens, always knowing what she wanted to do. On her debut CD "Only When I Breathe," it's obvious that this is not an artist defined strictly by the term "country," but that Hunt-Taylor's work is probably best classified as lightly dressed "acoustic music." Many of her songs, especially the Bonnie Riatt-ish "A Vacancy of Love," would fit in just fine at a Lilith Fair performance, yet it's easy to imagine a commercial country artist such as Trisha Yearwood recording the title ballad, or a soul diva grooving on "I Do Like Lovin You." Still, Hunt-Taylor's music should appeal to both men and women as it cuts across genre, even as it makes her fluid voice and style more difficult to immediately identify. Intensely personal and yet at once universal, the songs can be as intimate as a confessional box or as independent as a fifth generation grand dame. Beautifully framed by multi-instrumentalist George Marinelli whose electric slide guitar slices through the opening cut like a laser, the album has a sort of shimmering integrity, whether in the instrumental touches like the "Hawaiian" acoustic slide on "Your Love Amazes Me" (which works equally as well as a love song or as a contemporary Christian Devotional), or in Hunt-Taylor's searing, autobiographical writing, particularly on "Somebody Say Its Okay," the story of her parents' painful marriage and divorce, with the inherent message about the life long effects of alcoholism on an entire family. Just why it's usually a female writer who can bring this kind of polished artistry to the surface on a debut - even an independently produced outing such as this - is difficult to say. As with many of the changes in the Nashville Music industry in the last decade, however, blessings are not to be questioned, but savored. And enjoyed.
Neil Fagain Review - PERFORMING SONGWRITER MAGAZINE
Only When I Breathe, Amanda Hunt-Taylor
Amanda Hunt-Taylor wrote the number-one single "Your Love Amazes Me." John Berry made it a country smash and Michael English put it on the AC charts. It was SESAC's Song of the Year in 1994, and received a BMI award for one million radio plays. The lady knows how to write a hit and she includes it here on her debut disc. She and producer/guitarist, George Marinelli (Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby) leave off the studio bombast though, letting the song float along on the strength of its melody and some shimmering acoustic guitars and mandolins. The same can be said for the rest of the album, and while that may be the only song you recognize it won't be the only song you'll like. "We Just Missed The Rain" and "Light Years," both co-writes with Marinelli, are strong, well written, and beautifully performed. While nine of the ten songs on the album are love songs, they're mature and intelligent. "Rain" and "Light Years" are two fine examples. If, as the song says, romance is a slow dance, Amanda Hunt-Taylor is ready for the occasion.
