The Pop Farmers

About Me

The Pop Farmers were formed in 2005 out of the ashes of the band John Paul and the Absolutes. When that band crashed and burned, Al, Dan and Jimmy regrouped and joined forces with Chris Gardner and played a few shows as Naughty Pine. That name didn't quite feel right, so after much soul searching, the name The Pop Farmers arrived.Chris recently left the band to devote more time to his solo acoustic act, but we recently hired our good friend Gary Blaisdell to fill the role of rhythm guitar and vocals.Mixing well-known and obscure covers in a big musical stew, The Pop Farmers have started making a name on the Southern New Hampshire scene. Keep an eye out to see when we're pulling our sideshow into your town. Keep on Poppin'!

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: www.thepopfarmers.com
Band Members: Al Carey, Vocals, guitar and keyboards. Jim Mahony, Drums and dirty limericks. Dan Moran, Vocals, bass and mandolin, Gary Blaisdell, Vocals, guitar and bass.
Influences: We're pretty scattered influence-wise. Al's big into the alt.country scene, while Jimmy digs the Dropkick Murphys, Dan is a Johnny Cash maniac and Gary seems to like just about everything.
Sounds Like: Hopefully we sound like the bands we cover while at the same time sounding like The Pop Farmers. We cover tunes by well-known bands and artists such as Tom Petty, the Smithereens, REM, Warren Zevon, Elvis (Costello AND Presley), etc., but we also play tunes by bands you may not have heard of, but really should such as Charlie Chesterman, Tim Carroll and the Fallen Stars. Go to our web-site and check out the song list. We think you'll find something you like and may stumble on something that'll be your new favorite song (we particularly like "Straight to Hell" by drivin' n' cryin').
Type of Label: Major
