Jeremy Johnson & The Lonesome Few

About Me

Jeremy Johnson grew up on a ranch in northeast Oklahoma and was introduced to music at an early age. His father played in a bands that toured local honkytonks and jukejoints in Oklahoma and Kansas. If that weren't enough to light the musical flames, his grandfather and grandmother constantly listened to country music greats the likes of Bob Wills, Hank Williams, Sr., Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter, and Johnny Cash.
"Some of my best memories," Jeremy says, "are of my Grandma and Grandpa twirlin' around their garage to the sounds of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. I'll never forget the feeling I got seeing them floatin' across that floor while that fiddle burned through "San Antonio Rose" or "Orange Blossom Special"." Although Bob Wills made a big impression, it was his little brother, Jimmie Johnson, who was handed the fiddle. Jeremy ended up playing the piano.
"My grandma encouraged us to be musical and pretty much forced me to take piano lessons." Although he proved adept at the keyboard, he quit piano lessons after 3 years because his teacher refused to teach him how to play "jazz, blues, or honkytonk. That's what I really wanted to do. Not so much weave an atmosphere for an audience like that classical stuff, but I wanted to play music that would make you want to jump up out of your seat and dance around, you know, like Jerry Lee (Lewis)!"
It wasn't long after he quit playing piano that Jeremy picked up the guitar. After trying to establish a variety of bands throughout his teens, that old time music came back to bite him.
"I was listening to the radio one day and heard Johnny Cash again, and I realized once more how good that music was. I began looking into Bob Wills again, and pretty soon I happened onto Billy Joe Shaver, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, and the music I wanted to make came into focus."
After months of hard work and playing the local venues almost every weekend, the band has released their debut album, "Sides and Lines". The album includes 10 original songs and a cover of Rodney Crowell's "I Ain't Living Long This" which was made famous by Waylon Jennings.
Because of their hard work and dedication to the music, Jeremy and the guys have been lucky enough to share the stage with many great bands and artists including Billy Joe Shaver, The Red Dirt Rangers, Jackson Taylor & The Sinners, Back Porch Mary, No Justice, Scott Miller and The Commonwealth, Reno Divorce, and The Last Vegas.
Combining traditional country lyricism with outlaw attitude, Jeremy Johnson & The Lonesome Few are sure to turn more than a few heads and tweak a few ears.

Voted "Best Country Band" in Oklahoma City!
Here's what they had to say: "Backed by his rowdy band--- guitarist Steve Paul, basist Jason Stacy, and drummer Blake Lankford--- singer/songwriter Jeremy Johnson pens rollicking red-dirt country that teems with the anxious energy of a born rambler. Johnson & The Lonesome Few are anything but loners to audiences here in Oklahoma, where they fill most weekends with whiskey-soaked shows at local honky-tonks. "
Thanks to everyone who voted for us!
Here's a review of the new album----
Sides and Lines- Country music with an Edge"
"Oklahoma Band Jeremy Johnson and the Lonesome Few have released their Debut Album "Sides and Lines" which is full of Hard Hitting, Straight Ahead Country Music that jumps out of your speakers from the 1st and doesn't let up until the last bars of the final track. Jeremy and the boys have a real edge to their Music which is sure to please all lovers of the Outlaw Country Music sound. No white Hat Nashville Crossover Music just REAL Hard Drivin Country just the way us good ole boys from Downunder like it."
