About Me

Ernesto Caravantes is a native Angelino who grew up in Lakewood, CA, the only son of Mexican immigrant parents His parents had a profound impact on his choices and accomplishments in his life and instilled a deep sense of wonder and pride in his Mexican roots. They also emphasized the value of education in the United States if one wanted the best life possible—not just a better life—even the American Dream. Both his parents were bilingual and spoke Spanish in the home but that all changed when Ernesto was in the second grade. The Clarion Call came when his teacher told his parents, “Teach this boy English or go back to Mexico.” Instead of outrage, his parents began a long crusade of English immersion. His early struggles to learn English as a child, along with subsequent remedial English classes, challenged his confidence but fueled a determination to succeed, academically and otherwise. Marked by a steady uphill progression and desire to expand his skills and his horizons – from completing a Masters’ Degree in Counseling to hosting an educational cable television show, he is committed to lifelong learning. If you would like to contact him, he can be reached at: [email protected]
