About Me

Mixmaster Records was one of Belfasts few remaining independant record stores. Its ten year span has seen it supply some of the worlds leading club and radio djs, and the public with upfront music, months before they hit the charts!

Dilly (or Gary Dillon as he’s known to his mother), is certainly no stranger to dance music in all its forms. As a dj he has played and been resident at some of the biggest clubs and nights in Ireland’s history. From his early acid house days in the legendary Tokyo Joes, Kelly’s and Circus Circus nights, to his celebrated and still talked about residency in Dublin’s infamous ‘Asylum’ club…. some of his 8 hour 10am sets are still being raved about and honoured to this day!
Over the years Dilly has djed alongside hundreds of the worlds djing elite, such as Carl Cox, Tony De Vit, Africa Bambaata, Dave Angel, Joey Beltram, Pete Tong, Steve Lawler, Tall Paul, Farley Jackmaster Funk, CJ Bolland and Slam to name a few.
Up until 10 months ago Dilly was one of the residents at without doubt Irelands most prestigious and respected club night, ‘Shine’, where he has featured on line ups with some of the most influential dj’s on the planet.
He is also a director, co-founder and A&R of Shine’s connected record label ‘Shine Recordings’ having co-signed & secured artists and remixers such as Slam, Justin Robertson, Jon Carter, Tony Thomas, Valentino Kanzyani and Peace Division. Mixmaster Recordings is also continuously growing in profile and with a string of strong releases handled on a worldwide level by it’s distributor Amato, it looks set to be a major force to be reckoned with in dance music.
Running alongside with the club side of things Dilly’s artist and dj management agency ‘Mixddup’ now handles bookings for some of the biggest acts and dj’s on the planet as well as nurturing fresh local talent…the future of Irelands dance music!
Dilly is also the sole owner and driving force behind Ireland’s biggest and most respected dance music store, Mixmaster Records. Mixmaster has over the past 8 years built a steady reputation throughout the world as being a leading light in the supply of upfront dance music.
It supplies a lot of the worlds djing elite with vinyl. Dj’s such as Layo & Bushwacka, Danny Howells, Nick Warren, Claude Young, Des Mitchell, CJ Bolland, Tom Middleton, Fergie, Agnelli & Nelson, Phil Kieran, Graham Gold, Paul Van Dyk, Ken Ishi, Dylan Rhymes & DJ Deep have all graced the Mixmaster store listening posts over the past few years.
With the onset of the world wide web www.mixmastrerrecords.com now has spread it’s wings even further and has rapidly built a vast global customer base and services pretty much every country in the world with dance music.
PRODUCTION
Dilly’s first release vinyl release on Mixmaster “Paranoid Girl” had the djing elite collectively foaming at the mouth!. It featured as the last tune in John Digweed’s last ever live mix from New Yorks ‘Twilo’ before it closed which was featured on his Kiss Fm show. It was also requested by Steve Lawler for his “Dark Drums” album and featured on many cool compilations around the world. Other supporting dj’s included Dave Seamen, Sasha, Lee Burridge, Deep Dish and Nick Warren.
Dilly also records for Mixmaster Recordings under the alias of Scan Seeker, and Paper Nation alongside studio partner Graeme L, as well as also recording with Shine promoter and fellow resident Alan Simms under the ingeniously constructed name of ‘Dillon & Simms’.
Dilly’s unique djing style of tough synth laden house, percussive grooves and chunky club techno totally compliment his production and continues to totally devastate dance floors on a weekly basis.
