I am a novelist who currently resides in Bath. I am writing my second novel whilst my first called "The Idiot Friend" will be published within the next few weeks, excerpts of which will be posted in the blog section.
The story of The Idiot Friend revolves around Adam Bone who is a stand up comedian rapidly approaching thirty and who can no longer differentiate between being laughed at and laughed with. This isn't helped by the fact that he has also come to the conclusion that he is himself the punchline in the worst joke he has ever heard.
When his girlfriend walks out on him and one of his closest friends walks out on his wife and into Adam's spare room it triggers a series of events that makes Adam question what it means to be alive. He starts on a journey of self discovery, teenage crushes, suicide, sitcom writing, rock and roll and a search for the truth that takes him to the end of the country and back again.
"Everyone has to die sometime."
I have nearly finished my second novel called "Amateur Oncology" of which I will post up excerpts as a work in progress.
It is a dark work about stalking, serial killing, experimental science and a secret society within the police force. Set in Bath it is pure Somerset Noir.
