I've moved about 22 times in my life and have lived in Louisiana, Arkansas, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, California, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Massachusetts.
I met my husband, George, on the internet in February 2000. We were engaged that same year and were married on May 11, 2002. We welcomed our only child on February 12, 2004.
I can't really pretend this part shouldn't be here, but I was born with a rare genetic disorder known as Epidermolysis Bullosa . Childhood wasn't easy. I was teased, taunted, singled out and couldn't do much that the other kids could because things that everyday kids do would severely injure me. My EB improved over time and I lead a pretty normal life and rarely talk about it. However, it is 75% of the reason Kaci is an only child, as I have a 50% chance of passing it on to any of my offspring. We went through the genetic counseling and the amnio and the waiting. On Christmas Eve, 2003 I got THE call. The tests came back and the baby I was carrying was a perfectly healthy little girl. I needing nothing more that Christmas. My prayers were answered. We got lucky with her.
