I wake up in the morning and piss excellence

About Me

If you know me, then you can count yourself lucky as having met the luckiest man alive. I have a beautiful, hilarious, and all around amazing wife, who is an unbelievable mother to our children. The kids... well what can I say about them? Wilz and Layla are the two biggest blessings in my life. They make me realize why I've been put on this earth. If you need any proof about how great these two are, just look at the pictures of them on this site, or if you are incredibly lucky you can meet them for yourself.I am soon to be co-owner of our family business, Hickman's Meat Market, which is becoming more successful every day. We are making some very big changes in the upcoming year or two, which will hopefully let my family live very comfortably. Heather is also going to school right now and is planning on going to work as a hairdresser when Layla begins kindergarten, and I couldn't be more excited about having her back out there in the work force, although the job she does now caring for our children and home full time is more work than I can even imagine. We are awaiting the birth of our new puppy, which we will get to pick up in late February or early March. It has been my lifelong dream to have a Newfoundland, and I'm finally able to do it. We're all very excited. I can promise many pictures of the new dog (Bauer....if you watch 24 you'll get the reference) and of course, of our awesome pound pup Favre (no explanation necessary for that name).Of course, there's always my lifelong passion of music. I have neglected this for too long now, but I'm trying to remedy that. I am planning on recording at least a few songs, if not an entire album's worth in the upcoming months and am trying to get a decent song library together so I can get back out there and play in front of people. Stay tuned for more info on that.

My Interests

Ok, the last time I put something up here, it was WAY too long, so I'm gonna shorten this section. My most important interests are my wife and children and the rest of my family. Music is next on my list. I love playing guitar and singing, and have had the privelege of doing so with some amazingly talented people, like all of the members of my old band Melson's Mind and everyone I sang with in the Golden Blues at Univ. of Delaware, both were life-changing experiences. I am a HUGE football fan. I'm torn between the love of two teams though... the Packers and Eagles. I feel that when Favre leaves Green Bay, the Packers may have to settle into that number two position on my favorite teams list. I'm going to put working out on this list as the heading is interests...I am interested, I just haven't built up the steam to actually go ahead and do it. Hopefully I can delete that little disclaimer in the very near future.

I'd like to meet:

Eric Clapton... definitely my musical idol. I mean, my daughter's name is Layla, what does that tell you? Will Ferell and any combination of the actors from Wedding Crashers, Old School, Anchorman, Forty Year Old Virgin, etc... That whole group seems like they would be such a blast to party with. Brett Favre; I mean who else embodies the positive characteristics of a competitive athlete like him? And, I would have to say Rachel McAdams (the lead actress in Wedding Crashers, the Notebook, etc...). I said before I'm happily married, but wow she is hot! (If anyone reads this and thinks I'm an asshole for mentioning another woman, I will direct you to my wife's myspace in which she refers to Tim McGraw and Brad Paisley as "super sexy". I rest my case.

Music:

This will have to be an ongoing list that I complete in installments as there are so many different musical group or individuals that I love to listen to and/or have influenced my own music. If you actually read this shit, keep posted for new music updates. Ok here goes....in very, very random order Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Janis Joplin, Crosby Stills Nash and Young (individually or any combination of the four), Buffalo Springfield, The Birds, Santana, The Beatles, Robert Johnson, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Keb Mo, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Elton John, John Mayer, Sister Hazel, Dave Matthews, David Gray, James Blunt, Nirvana, Metallica, Tool, Chevelle, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Sevendust, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, Pantera, OMNISOUL, Grateful Dead, Phish, Pink Floyd, Counting Crows, Radiohead, Weezer, Barenaked Ladies, Tim Mcgraw, Brad Paisley, Alice In Chains, Blind Melon, Harry Connick Jr., OAR, Dispatch, Pat Mcgee Band, Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Gil Scott Heron, old Korn, Snoop, Eminem, Jack Johnson, G-Love, Edwin Mcain, Gnarls Barkley, The Black Keys, Tenacious D, The Fray, Jamie Cullum, Thirty Seconds to Mars, Jamiroquai....

Movies:

Ok, I love movies almost as much as music, so this list will also be changing constantly.... All three Lord of the Rings movies, Braveheart, The Patriot, Batman Begins, Spider Man 1 and 2, Kill Bill vol. 1 and 2, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Reservoir Dogs, Natural Born Killers, American History X, Cinderella Man, Anchorman, Old School, Wedding Crashers, Meet the Parents, Meet the Fockers, What About Bob, The Wedding Singer, Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, Big Daddy, Ferris Buellers Day Off, Gone in Sixty Seconds, Ray, Gladiator, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Saving Private Ryan, Blackhawk Down, all three Austin Powers movies, Crossroads (and no I don't mean the britney spears movie), Silence of the Lambs, Saw I and II, All of the Rocky movies, The Forty Year Old Virgin, Talladega Nights, Pirates of the Caribbean I and II, A History of Violence, The Machinist, Fight Club....

Television:

24 (the best show on television by far), House, CSI and CSI Miami, Miami Ink, American Idol(I can't really call this a guilty pleasure anymore as everybody watches it), Grey's Anatomy, all of those damn celeb-reality shows on VH1 (i don't know why i like them, but i do), Dirty Jobs, The Deadliest Catch, The Simpsons, King of the Hill, That 70's Show, old Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, Seinfeld, Weeds(great show on showtime that you should all watch), Rescue Me (Dennis Leary at his best).....

Books:

Anything by James Patterson, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior (amazing book that nobody has read), The Hobbit, the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy, Great Expectations, any Shakespeare, of course, the Da Vinci Code. You'd figure that I would have read more of the classics being an English major as I was, but I really haven't. I need to start picking up one classic novel here and there and get caught up.

Heroes:

Eric Clapton is my musical hero, and I would have to say my dad is my all around hero.
