In the spring of 2003, two musicians collided and formed what would later be called “Empathy.†Ryan McAdoo and Sean Morey were involved in a Christian Youth Theater production in Kansas City when they met at a piano. Before moving on to such formalities as learning each others’ names, they began putting lyrics with melodies. The rest is history.Ever since that fateful meeting, Ryan and Sean have pounded out rhythms, harmonies, and lyrics together from their bedrooms, their home studio, even over the phone. Their first album, The Truth About Tabloids, was released in the summer of 2006. Prior to the release of this album, work began on album number two, Every Time I Turn the Radio On. This second album was partially recorded and mixed by Joe Mills at High Point Recording Studio in Lenexa, Kansas. Their sound has matured and solidified along with their relevant, heartfelt lyrics and is quickly developing a fan base. The official release date was November 24, 2007 and a few hundred copies have flown off the shelves.Ryan and Sean appreciate music that is musical. They produce a sound that is interesting, yet not confusing. Years of piano, voice, and theory have brought them to an understanding of music that exceeds their 17 years. The lyrics are poetic, honest, and creative and when matched with the melody, create an emotion that accurately reflects the message. Both boys are finishing high school at a local community college and plan on continuing their study of music in college. They are currently performing in the CYT production of Les Miserables and serve as worship leaders for CYT as well as for their individual church youth groups.
