About Me

Get Your Own! | View Slideshow Like a warm summer breeze rippling over the oceans surface, M'LONIE is quietly but thoroughly bringing a new smooth sound to Dancehall. With the doors of Dancehall opening wider and wider to the female gender over the last several years, M'LONIE is the next female to step in armed with melodic flows and sultry singing. M'LONIE, whose confident demeanor glows with exuberance when talking about her love of singing has been setting the stage to make an impact for the last several years. Born in Kingston, Jamaica; Faith Melonie Waltson aka M'Lonie was fascinated with singing since childhood. With the support of her family, mainly her father and sister whom she used to practice singing harmonies for fun, M'Lonie got serious about exploring her voice. During her school years she was involved with several musical groups including the Spanish Group (a local school choir) and other bands while balancing her schoolwork. Intent on becoming an entertainment attorney, M'Lonie quickly found her course changing while studying as an undergrad. By 1997, M'Lonie began to work with established groups such as Fab Five, a well known backing band in Jamaica, The Unique Vision Band as a lead singer and also experimenting on her own in talent contests. M'Lonie's approach to recording was a steady diet of live performance training as a background vocalist for artists like; Anthony B, Buju Banton, Chaka Demus, Coco Tea, Junior Kelly, Michael Rose and other top singers. This experience coupled with her tenure as the lead vocalist for several bands prepared her for the next step to studio recording. Working in the studio with artists like; Chuck Fender, Kamau Kes (from Trindad) and Richie Spice, allowed her to demonstrate her expertise as she arranged vocals for several recordings sessions. M'Lonie also had the opportunity to record the collaboration Break It Down with Anthony B for Maximum Sounds. This particular single gave the budding singer her first opportunity to shine in front of an audience of approximately 10,000 patrons. Being fortunate to work with one of the Dancehalls top respected beat makers, Richard Call Me Shams Browne has afforded her songs on some hit riddims. M'Lonie's catalog already includes the songs; Love Me on the Glue Riddim, We Can Do It from the Hammer Riddim, You Didnt on the Fear Factor and Do You Wanna from the Baddis Ting Riddim. M'Lonie was the female flava heating up Mr. Vegas' remix of Girls Time. Most recently M'Lonie can be found belting it out on songs like; Lately from Bay-C (of TOK) latest Black Rain Riddim, Call Me Anytime from the Confessions Riddim, Can Your Boys off the Bang Bang riddim and Something Me Like recorded with producers Sly & Robbie and Where were you on the rainy day riddim produced by Richard"shams"Browne. M'Lonie is a delectable combination of polish and good girl persona sprinkled with a hint of naughtiness, merging her original smoothed fusion of Dancehall and Reggae bringing about a versatility that is strictly M'Lonie. Determined to make it in Dancehall as a female artist is not an easy feat, M'Lonie recognizes disappointments will come, but I will continue to use them as strengths. I dont crack under pressure, I will keep striving, the sky is reachable but Im aiming higher. M'Lonie is the next phase of women in Dancehall.
