About Me

THE MUSTANGS are regarded as one of the best and most exciting blues rock bands in the UK today, and their fantastic new album NOTHING STAYS THE SAME looks set to push the band further into the spotlight. With their high energy, blues-based rock originals, the group has quickly grown a reputation as the best live band on the South Coast of England. A Mustangs stage show is like no other, with the tireless energy of lead singer Adam Norsworthy the focal point around which they build their shows, climaxing in a sonic and visual crescendo that is sending crowds home ecstatic time after time. The four-piece Hampshire based band formed in 2001. Guitarist and singer Adam Norsworthy, already a young 'veteran' of live performing joined forces with harp player Derek Kingaby. Augmented by the dynamic drumming of Jon Bartley and the rock solid bass of Ben Mckeown, the band cut its teeth in the many music pubs and clubs on England's south coast, but has also played famous venues and headlined festivals such as The Hackney Empire, Boogaloo Blues Festival, Blues at the Fort, Swanage Blues Festival, Eel Pie's Bluesquest, Southsea's Blues at the Pier, the International Festival of the Sea, The South Coast HOG and many others.Official recognition of The Band’s growing stature has come in many shapes and forms. They were voted band of the month in the respected music magazine Gigbase. They were chosen from more than 500 bands to play at Guilfest and in Spring 2005 won the famous Eel Pie Blues Club's Bluesquest competition for new talent. They have made four celebrated albums of entirely original material - Rocking Horse Let it Roll, Split Decision and the brand new Nothing Stays The Same. The first two albums have been in the CD-Wow Unsigned top 10 for many months. Currently, the albums occupy positions 2 and 10 respectively. Many original Mustangs songs such as In Need Of You, Double Headed Romeo and Give Me Some Time have fast become live favourites alongside blues classics and select choice rock covers.Split Decision is the band's first album to be released on Blues Matters, the UK's largest dedicated blues label. The exciting, all-original album is an essential listen for anyone who likes blues rock, and has already found the band a whole new legion of followers.

Influences: The Mustangs are renowned for incorporating a broad range of blues and rock styles on their albums. It is this eclectic mix of styles that makes their albums a joy - short, sharp, diverse, rocking, melodic songs are the band's speciality! Their wide range of influences include blues and rock acts Muddy Waters, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Dr Feelgood, Booker T and the MGs, early Fleetwood Mac, the Stones, Elmore James and Sonny Boy Williamson.
Sounds Like: Though the Mustangs like to draw upon their influences, their sound is unique, thanks to the different styles they manage to incorporate on one album. Shades of bands like Led Zeppelin certainly, but the band's original, exciting live sound is almost impossible to pin down.
