Hello, My name is Ali... This Page or Space is dedicated to my photography. Using this Space, I hope to meet others with interests in either being behind the camera, or in front of it.

I've been photographing and interested in photography since I was 12 years old. When I was 19, I started shooting with a Minolta X700, shooting almost exclusively with a 50MM lens, photographing Northern Michigan, New York City, California, Florida, and used the Minolta on my visits to Germany and Iran... This is also around the time when I started studying Photography and learning about the masters of the craft to include people like Henry Cartier Bresson.

Some of my favorite photographs are from my years with my Minolta X700. In 1993, I changed my camera to Nikon and started shooting with the Nikon N8008. By that time, I lived in Austin, TX (moved from New York) and was working Full Time in IT and going to school. I bought a Used Nikon F5 in 2002, which was my last Non Digital camera. In 2003, when Nikon came out with the D70, I got my first DSLR. With the D70 and the F5 film camera, and a newly found knowledge of Digital Darkroom techniques, and with the support and push from family and friends, this expensive hobby started to turn into a business.

PirAli Photo/Graphic Studio was established in 2003 and I started shooting families, weddings, engagements, bridals, models, nature, artists and freelance work.

Since 2007, I have been shooting with Nikon D300. As far as lenses, my most frequent used lenses are: 50MM, 10-20MM Wide Angle, 90MM and the Nikon 18-200MM lens. I have a home studio which is where do some of my indoor portrait photography. I also work out of a new studio in mid town, Austin. For studio work, I use Hot Lights. I also just have been working with the Nikon Creative Lighting System (Wireless Strobes).

My favorite subjects are photographing people to expose their cultures, wide angle landscapes, and to work on my special projects. I am inspired by many great photographers, photo journalists and cinematographers, including Annie Leibovitz, John Alcott, Robert Richardson, Henry Cartier Bresson, Richard Avedon and Herb Ritts.

I hope you enjoy what you see here and please leave me your comments if you wish. You can contact me by email or phone if you have any need for photographic services.
