Born February 2, 1991 in Kitchener, Ontario, Courtney Meloche has been surrounded by music her entire life. Growing up in the small town of Amherstburg, Ontario—half an hour south of the Windsor-Detroit border—Meloche’s parents always had the radio on. From Elton John, and Queen classics, to pop sensations like Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, Meloche always had an uncanny ability to quickly and accurately pick up lyrics and sing with passion. At the age of 13 she picked up a guitar and hasn’t put it down since. With influences ranging from 1960’s folk rock like Donovan and Sandy Denny, to pop-rock legends like Madonna and Heart, Meloche’s folk-infused alternative sound is unique and attention grabbing. On Meloche’s demos her self penned songs reflect a mature outlook and deal with issues such as loss, love, and a lifelong search for acceptance. The acoustic-driven first single, “The Drifterâ€, perfectly exemplifies her ability to artfully craft simple lyrics into a colourful and imaginative tale that will have you humming long after the final notes. While her journey may be only just beginning, Meloche’s drive and talent are pointing her towards a promising and successful future.
