Mulholland began life as something entirely different - originally a five
piece, they went on to play in the semi-final of a competition early on in
the first few months of song writing, and then into the final of yet another
contest before two of the members left due to musical differences. At this
point, it left the three remaining members free to finally pursue the more
streamlined mixture of funk - rock that was really at the core of the music.
Four years on, Mulholland have achieved a great deal in terms of musical
originality and experience. Now, performance and the desire to find a good
groove are the two main drives behind the smooth mixture of tight, precise
guitar, snappy consistent beats and a pounding bass rhythm. The themes of
the writing are mixed; love, life and frustration occur in most of the lyrics.
