Also known as "ZAA*ZAA" by close friends and relatives, Esperanza expresses her talents and skills through many artistic ways, with singing and writing lyrics being one of her strongest talents, she also has studied many styles of dance, and has a facinating ability for sketching and painting eversince she was younger.
Esperanza comes from a very diverse, artistic, and musical Family/background.
Growing up, she was found to be playing with microphones and learning how to hook up electronics since her Father had his own Mexican musical band named "Guerrero's Show". His band covered all Top 40 popular Hispanic music and their own music was featured many times on the popular Hispanic radio station, La Z, in Portland, OR. The Band made 3 Albums, was constantly in the studio, and had big local performances that many would come to watch and listen.
Watching her Father go through the highs and lows with this Band had given her the knowledge and respect to know what to expect in this rough but exciting business of music.Growing up, Esperanza's first inspiration for singing was Selena, the late Mexican-American Tejano singer. "She was so real, beautiful, and talented. I miss her so much!", remembers Esperanza.
Another Artist that she has been greatly influenced by is the wonderful, Alicia Keys. Other Artists include, Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Jill Scott, Joss Stone, and many others.
Now at age 23, Esperanza has matured and bloomed into a very strong, outgoing, bubbly, young woman...which is so emotionaly far from the shy little girl people knew her as.
With songs such as "So Lucky" , and "They Don't Know 'bout ZaaZaa" , and her other songs, you can hear her soulful voice through the lyrics she writes.Being so very shy when she was younger, NO ONE could get her to even sing a little school song in front of them! But little did she know that her Parents would soon find her audio cassettes in her tape recorder of her singing song after song with not a trace of shyness. She was secretly finding who she was, but was too shy to let anybody know.Esperanza didn't come out of her shell until her Junior year in Highschool where she did talent shows and was recognized for her impressive vocals. During all her years in highschool, she also was on Dance Team, played the Flute in the school band, and was the Leader in her Art Staff Class."I just love Art. Its my passion, its my drive.", she says with a big smile. After highschool, Esperanza's soulful, sultry-sweet vocals were chosen to be in a local funk/RnB/Soul Band, named "Soul Search", where she was able to make her "grand appearance" and shine her vocals as the Lead Female vocalist. Watching from the audience, you can tell she enjoys every second and every minute being on that stage.
But with a sudden move to Seattle, WA, Esperanza had to unfortunately leave her Band, but with the aspiration to take her experience, new found stage persona, and put it to use with another Band in Seattle, WA.
Never putting a hault on her dreams, she is now back in Portland, OR, working on new music and lyrics for upcoming projects.Hoping one day, that somebody will recognize her talents, dreams and goals, Esperanza is always looking to collaberate, recieve any suggestions, comments, and questions anyone might have.Esperanza is also looking to be signed to a respected, known, and/or local Recording Label. But untill that day, she knows she is the only one who can work harder to get herself out there and known."So hey, in the words of Alicia Keys and Mohammed Ali:
Fly like a butterfly, Sting like a bee!!!"Feel free to write Esperanza here on Myspace, drop her a comment or IM, and let her know what you think about her and her music!!
