I am here for Friends

About Me

Um...not a whole lot to say about me. I'm a 28-year-old graduate student at the University of Missouri (even though I live in Omaha, NE -- go figure) studying library science. I also have a law degree from the University of Nebraska. I'm a lefty wacko, and have been involved in some left-wing organizations. I used to work at the Lancaster County Public Defender, but I left there when I finished law school and started library school.I am currently looking for new stuff to put here. But, alas, I have nothing. So for the time being, pretend that this is the really awesome widget of your choice.

My Interests

law, books, gaming, video games, board games, comics, the internet

I'd like to meet:

I prefer to talk to intelligent human beings, not people with one-track minds who only want to talk about sex. Other educated professionals are a plus, but my biggest thing is finding someone I can relate to as an equal.

Music:

classical (especially baroque strings & harpsichords), 50s and 60s jazz, modern rock

Movies:

Shakespeare in Love, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, romantic comedies, drama, epics

Television:

Heroes, Buffy/Angel, Star Trek (TNG & DS9), Alias, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Smallville

Books:

Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkein, Arturo-Perez Reverte's Captain Alatriste series, The Three Musketeers, Arthurian Legends

Heroes:

The people who thanklessly grind out their existence for the benefit of others, only to be at best ignored or at worst hated for their efforts -- i.e., people like Public Interest lawyers, Public Defenders, some government employees.

Beware: Iraq rant within

I love to rant. I’m not going to lie. And now, it’s time for another rant. Back in 2003, I thought the invasion of Iraq -- with a war still being fought in Afghanistan -- was a mistake. Wh...
