I'm 26 and currently in the PhD program in physics at UCSC. Since I've been here I've taken alot of time to explore the campus and the surrounding environment. I've always enjoyed being outdoors but since coming here I've become quite a nature freak. I ride a bicycle to town a lot and just look for cool places to walk around.
My interest in physics started when I was growing up, mostly due to Star Wars, Star Trek, and other sci-fi. FTL travel has always excited me, so my main interest right now is traversable wormholes (as in StarGate). If that wasn't fringy enough, then my interest in magick is even more off the mainstream.
Since I was about 17 or 18 I discovered ideas surrounding advanced nanotechnology and the technological Singularity. Although it's not really a major focus in my life right now, it is an idea that has stuck with me over time and continues to influence my worldview.
