SPEKTAKEL- NEW ORIGINAL FOLK - seriously crooked music Inspired by traditional folk music from the Nordic countries to the Balkans, medieval ballads, moonstruck poetry and with a pinch of rock’n’roll, SPEKTAKEL declares folk music its love in a way that is both gay, serious and seriously crooked. The music of SPEKTAKEL is performed on a marvellous hotchpotch of instruments from near and far, geographically as well as historically. The listener will meet a guitar, the Swedish string instrument nyckelharpa, cello, recorder, mandolin, Hungarian hurdy-gurdy, Australian didgeridoo, double bass, violin and a wide variety of drums and percussion instruments. Last but not least, the vocals make up SPEKTAKEL’s strong, expressive front. The lyrics of SPEKTAKEL revolves around the beginnings and the ends, the highs and the lows of life, the very simple and the utterly complex, but always in SPEKTAKEL’s own style that embraces the archaic and the modern alike. SPEKTAKEL combines the earthy and the aetherial. A universe of music with an intense nerve that sings from the earth towards the skies. SPEKTAKEL is new original folk – seriously crooked music.
