Based in the Northwest of England 'Leif' produces the ideas and songs of singer/songwriter Jules McCormick. The band has been reviewed as "intensely passionate with strong songs and melodies. Combining the styles of Wilco, Nick Drake, Pink Floyd and Radiohead makes for a blend of eclectic rootsy rock!"
In 2005, Leif recorded the debut album 'Twist of fortune', essentially a low budget recording produced by Jules Leif McCormick. Jules was joined by Rick Hilley, Jon Thorne on double bass, Tim Cotton on drums and Stuart Eastham on double bass / electric bass and some more musical friends that helped out, martin diamond (double bass intro/outro on bohem), Howard (mixing & production), Lucy and Hannah (strings)
The album was released in summer 2006.
In 2006 -2007 Leif played around venues in the North west with a new rhythm section Adie Savage on drums and Ben Hodgkins on bass, later followed by Luke Hodgkins on Lead guitar, this line up has now become the definitive Leif both in the studio and live.
In 2007 and 2008 Leif have spent most of the time writing and demoing a second album (a collection of 20 new songs) which were aired at a handful of small low key gigs, as 2008 was quite an unproductive year for the band were now working hard to piece together a new album and some live shows for 2009, we will keep you updated here on myspace with the latest information.
